{"id":267101,"date":"2026-01-27T20:46:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T20:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/267101\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T20:46:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T20:46:07","slug":"diane-lane-joins-scarlett-johansson-in-mike-flanagans-the-exorcist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/267101\/","title":{"rendered":"Diane Lane Joins Scarlett Johansson in Mike Flanagan&#8217;s &#8216;The Exorcist&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Diane Lane (Unfaithful) has been cast in Mike Flanagan\u2019s new take on The Exorcist.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy Award nominee will star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe (Hamnet) in the film, due out on March 12, 2027 via Universal.<\/p>\n<p>Flanagan \u2014 the visionary behind \u201cThe Haunting of Hill House,\u201d \u201cMidnight Mass,\u201c and Doctor Sleep \u2014 is writing and directing the all-new story set in The Exorcist universe.<\/p>\n<p>Plot details remain under wraps, but the film is neither a remake of William Friedkin\u2019s 1974 horror classic nor a sequel to 2023\u2019s The Exorcist: Believer.<\/p>\n<p>Flanagan is producing via his Red Room Pictures banner alongside Jason Blum for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Executive producers include Red Room\u2019s Alexandra Magistro and Blumhouse\u2019s Ryan Turek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity to do something that I believe has never been done within the franchise \u2014 something that honors what came before it but isn\u2019t built on nostalgia,\u201c <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/movie\/3830046\/mike-flanagan-aims-to-make-the-exorcist-his-scariest-movie-yet\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flanagan said<\/a> of the project. \u201cI really just saw an opportunity to make the scariest movie I\u2019ve ever made. I know expectations are high.
