The bone percussor would be used to chip away stones to shape them and create sharp edges, as well as to re-sharpen tools after use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Maryland regional primitive skills organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancestralknowledge.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Ancestral Knowledge;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Ancestral Knowledge<\/a>, which teaches knapping classes, describes the process as \u201cthe most effective way to produce the sharpest edge possible on stones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The researchers speculated that the tool found in southern England must have been sourced in Europe, where mammoths and elephants were more common.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis find provides further evidence of the strategic selection and curation of organic tools among early hominins, implying a high level of resourcefulness, adaptability, and a nuanced understanding of their environment and available materials,\u201d authors Parfitt and Bello write in their published paper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Have a news tip?
