\u00a0Former Waterford TD Brian O\u2019Shea has passed away today.<\/p>\n
Mr O\u2019Shea, who lived at Sweetbriar Lawn, Tramore, Co. Waterford, and was formerly of Slievekeale Road, Waterford, was a former national school teacher and Labour Party politician.<\/p>\n
Elected to Waterford Corporation, Waterford County Council and Tramore Town Commissioners in 1985, he went onto to serve as a Teachta D\u00e1la (TD) for the Waterford constituency from 1989 to 2011, representing the Labour Party in D\u00e1il \u00c9ireann for more than two decades and had a distinguished political career, serving the people of Waterford<\/p>\n
During his political career, Brian O\u2019Shea held office as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine from 1993 to 1994, and later as Minister of State at the Department of Health from 1994 to 1997.<\/p>\n
Brian passed away peacefully in the tender care of the staff of Killure Bridge Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.<\/p>\n
Mayor of Waterford City and County and Labour party councillor, Seamus Ryan while speaking to WLR paid tribute to his former party colleague, saying:<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cI would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Brian\u2019s wife Eileen, his children Christine, Anne, Siobh\u00e1n, Mary, Paddy and John, his extended family, friends and many Labour Party colleagues”.<\/p>\n
