This City Is Ours’ new character played by Shaun Evans is set to bring a fair bit of villainy to the BBC show. The Endeavour actor was recently cast in the Liverpool-set crime drama, which is gearing up for its second season.<\/p>\n

In the new episodes, Evans will play a former gangster called Ozzie Thompson, who gets out of prison and demands compensation from the Phelans, being an ex associate of Ronnie (Sean Bean).<\/p>\n

Teasing his new co-star’s role, Michael Kavanagh actor James Nelson-Joyce told Radio Times<\/a> that Evans “brings a bit of villainy to the show”, also praising his “amazing” performance.<\/p>\n

The first season of This City Is Ours focuses on a power struggle under Liverpudlian crime boss Ronnie between his son and his right hand man.<\/p>\n

Season 2 will pick up soon after the events of the last episode, as Michael and Diana (Hannah Onslow) “are dragged back into the fold to answer questions around Ricardo\u2019s death”.<\/p>\n

“Back in Liverpool, tensions continue to bubble amongst the remaining members of the gang,” the synopsis adds, while Ozzie enters the fray and “wants compensation from the firm”.<\/p>\n

The show was renewed for a second run<\/a> ahead of the season 1 finale, with creator Stephen Butchard saying at the time: “We have all been blown away by the incredibly positive response to This City Is Ours, I can’t thank the audience enough for their time and emotional investment.<\/p>\n

This City Is Ours season 1 is streaming now on BBC iPlayer. Season 2 is yet to confirm a release date on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n
