\n\tPop culture\u2019s favorite veteran, John Rambo<\/a>, is headed back to the big screen, this time portrayed by Noah Centineo<\/a> (\u201cStreet Fighter\u201d). The origin story prequel began production in Bangkok, Thailand, this week, backed by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media and AGBO.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJohn Rambo<\/a>\u201d is set years before the events of\u00a0\u201cFirst Blood\u201d (1982), exploring the backstory and experiences of John J. Rambo, the action hero originated by Sylvester Stallone.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by \u201cSisu\u201d helmer Jalmari Helander<\/a>, \u201cJohn Rambo\u201d will star Yao (\u201cSinners\u201d), Jason Tobin (\u201cA Thousand Blows\u201d), Quincy Isaiah (\u201cWinning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty\u201d), Jefferson White (\u201cYellowstone\u201d), and Tayme Thapthimthong (\u201cThe White Lotus\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his director\u2019s statement, Helander said, \u201cWhen I was 11, I saw\u00a0\u2018First Blood\u2019\u00a0for the first time, and it changed my life.\u00a0Rambo\u00a0wasn\u2019t just a film to me \u2014 it stayed with me growing up and was a defining influence on why I wanted to become a filmmaker. As we begin production on the origin of John Rambo, we\u2019re going back to the beginning. This is Rambo stripped down, raw, and real\u2014a survival story about endurance, persistence, and lost innocence. It\u2019s an honor to shape this next chapter with deep respect for the character and the legacy, and to bring audiences the start of John Rambo\u2019s journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tErin Westerman, president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said, \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to start production on\u00a0\u2018John Rambo,\u2019 which will allow both new audiences and existing fans to explore John Rambo\u2019s roots, his principles, and most importantly, some incredible action, courtesy of Jalmari\u2019s singular vision. And we\u2019re so excited for Noah\u2019s committed and powerful performance to show what forged this character into legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFilming will take place across Thailand, including the cities of Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani and produced by Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon,\u00a0Jonathan Yunger for Millennium Media,\u00a0Michael Disco\u00a0and Angela Russo-Otstot\u00a0for AGBO. Anthony and Joe Russo,\u00a0Trevor\u00a0Short for Millennium Media, and\u00a0Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk for\u00a0Bonfire Legend will serve as executive producers.
