The accounts for the company behind the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel at Doonbeg – TIGL Ireland Enterprises \u2013 show that revenue at the venue rose 7pc to \u20ac17.3m in 2024. Its pre-tax profit in 2024 was \u20ac595,000, compared to \u20ac489,000 in 2023.<\/p>\n
The directors of the resort \u2013 including Donald Trump\u2019s sons, Eric and Donald Jr \u2013 said expectations are high that the hosting of the Irish Open there in September this year will provide a significant profile boost for the destination.<\/p>\n
Eric Trump told the Sunday Independent this week that his father intends to visit Doonbeg during the tournament.<\/p>\n
Mr Trump and his family bought the Doonbeg resort in 2014.<\/p>\n
The directors note that the business delivered increased sales across its green fees, membership, accommodation and hotel services during 2024.<\/p>\n
They added that the resort continues to receive \u201csignificant international recognition\u201d.<\/p>\n
It was named one of the top five resorts in Europe in the Conde Nast Traveller Readers\u2019 Choice Awards for 2025, they note.<\/p>\n
It was also named Ireland\u2019s best golf hotel for 2024 by World Golf Awards and it was named one of the top 10 golf courses in Ireland.<\/p>\n
The directors said hosting the Irish Open this year from September 10 to 13, will further enhance the Doonbeg resort\u2019s international profile.<\/p>\n

The Donald J Trump Revocable Trust is the ultimate parent company of the Irish firm that operates the golf and hotel venue. The US president is the sole beneficiary of the trust, which also controls multiple other assets owned by him. Those assets include his stake in stock market-listed Trump Media and Technology.<\/p>\n
Eric Trump told the Sunday Independent that the family would have invested significantly more in Ireland if not for the protracted planning process.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot tell you, between Ireland and Scotland, how many projects I would have taken on if the process didn\u2019t just kill the excitement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Trumps are currently hoping to build a ballroom at the Doonbeg resort that would be big enough to host 320 people. Clare County Council is imminently due to make a decision on the planning application.<\/p>\n
Eric Trump also said in his interview that the Irish Open wouldn\u2019t have been making its way to Doonbeg without the help of Rory McIlroy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll drive millions of dollars worth of economic value into Ireland during the tournament,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that the Doonbeg course will host \u201cthe best Irish Open that Ireland has ever seen\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve promised Rory McIlroy that,\u201d he said. \u201cRory\u2019s become a friend. And frankly, I\u2019d say without Rory\u2019s support, I\u2019m not even sure if we\u2019d have it here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doonbeg had been developed at an initial cost of \u20ac28m when it opened in 2002.<\/p>\n
While a 2014 report showed that receivers had obtained just under \u20ac9m for the sale of the property, the accounts for TIGL Ireland Enterprises later showed that it paid \u20ac14.4m for the acquisition of tangible fixed assets.
