Dakota Fanning (The Watchers) and\u00a0The Strangers<\/a>\u00a0director Bryan Bertino have teamed up for a horror movie called\u00a0Vicious, which is coming our way from Paramount Pictures, and we recently found out when we\u2019re going to have the chance to watch the movie. It was originally scheduled to reach theatres August 8th, then it was pushed up to February 28th, and then it was pulled off of Paramount\u2019s release schedule completely. A few weeks ago, it was\u00a0revealed<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0Vicious\u00a0is going to have its world premiere screening at Fantastic Fest this month, and along with that announcement came the confirmation that the film will be receiving a digital and Paramount+ streaming release on\u00a0October 10th. Now,\u00a0a trailer for the film has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above.<\/p>\n

Scripted by Bertino,\u00a0Vicious\u00a0sees Fanning taking on the role of\u00a0a young woman who is left a strange present by a late-night visitor, and quickly realizes she is fighting for her life after slipping down a disturbing rabbit hole contained inside the gift.\u00a0Here\u2019s another synopsis:\u00a0When Polly (Dakota Fanning) receives a mysterious Box from an unexpected late-night visitor, it comes with a simple instruction: place three things inside:\u00a0something you need, something you hate, and something you love. What begins as a strange ritual quickly unravels into a waking nightmare. Trapped in a terrifying world where reality bends and memory betrays, Polly must navigate a series of impossible choices. As time slips away, she\u2019s forced to confront the darkness not just around her, but within her\u2014before it consumes everything\u00a0and everyone\u00a0she\u2019s ever known.<\/p>\n

Fanning is joined in the cast by Devyn Nekoda (Scream VI), Mary McCormack\u00a0(The West Wing),\u00a0Rachel Blanchard\u00a0(The Summer I Turned Pretty), Kathryn Hunter\u00a0(Poor Things), Klea Scott (Millennium), and Emily Mitchell (Ordinary Angels).<\/p>\n

An Atlas Independent production,\u00a0the film was produced by Richard Suckle and Bertino, with Melinda Whitaker serving as executive producer with Shane Boucher.<\/p>\n

Bertino made his feature directorial debut with the 2008 horror film\u00a0The Strangers\u00a0and has since followed that up with three more horror films: 2014\u2019s\u00a0Mockingbird, which he co-wrote with\u00a0Mr. Robot\u00a0creator Sam Esmail,\u00a02016\u2019s\u00a0The Monster, and 2020\u2019s\u00a0The Dark and the Wicked. He also wrote the initial screenplay for\u00a0The Strangers: Prey at Night, which got a rewrite from Ben Ketai and ended up being directed by Johannes Roberts. While Bertino focuses on\u00a0Vicious, the\u00a0Strangers\u00a0franchise is continuing on without him with a trilogy that was directed by Renny Harlin.<\/p>\n

Vicious has been rated R for strong bloody violence, some grisly images, and language.<\/p>\n
