Joe Rogan has beef with the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n
For over 80 years, the Golden Globes has been one of the biggest media award shows in the world, recognizing achievements in film and television, and this year, the Globes added a new award, Best Podcast. Six podcasts were up for this inaugural award, which was won by Amy Poehler\u2019s \u201cGood Hang,\u201d but noticeably absent from the list was Rogan. The UFC commentator\u2019s podcast has been one of the biggest, if not the biggest, podcasts in the world for over a decade, and his snub from the nominees raised questions, which Rogan answered on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of people say, \u2018Why wasn\u2019t Joe Rogan nominated for the Golden Globes? Why did Amy Poehler win?\u2019 I didn\u2019t submit,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cThey asked me to submit to be nominated for the Golden Globes, and you had to pay $500. And the $500 is like for paperwork or whatever. I said, \u2018No.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care. I already won. You can\u2019t tell me I didn\u2019t win. I\u2019ve been number one for six years in a row. All of a sudden, you\u2019re going to have a contest in front of all these people wearing tuxedos, and you\u2019re going to say now I\u2019m not number one? F*ck off \u2014 I don\u2019t care that I\u2019m number one, but I am, in fact, number one. So, if all of a sudden you have a contest to decide whose really No. 1 \u2018amongst us\u2019, that\u2019s amongst you! You\u2019re allowed to have your opinion. You like Amy Poehler better than me, that\u2019s great. I don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n Rogan went on to clarify that he was asked to submit by the committee, but chose not to, detailing why he wasn\u2019t interested.<\/p>\n \u201cThey asked me to. I was one of like six candidates,\u201d Rogan said about submitting. \u201cThey basically just took the top people on the charts. Which is fine. \u2026<\/p>\n \u201cI just know that I didn\u2019t submit. I don\u2019t want to be a part of that. I don\u2019t care. You\u2019re just a group of people that just decide, all of a sudden, that you\u2019re going to give an award out? \u2018I get a trophy.\u2019 Fuck off!\u201d<\/p>\n Wrestling. On the other hand, award shows are not charts. The Avengers is not the greatest movie of all time because it made the most money, so Rogan\u2019s contention that he\u2019s the best podcaster is also a bit specious. He\u2019s the most successful one. That\u2019s inarguable. But that\u2019s not the same thing. Maybe he would have won, but now we\u2019ll never know.<\/p>\n Joe Rogan, scared to compete?
