The stabbing took place in the early hours of the morning, on August 31, 2025.<\/p>\n
It is believed that the victim was coming home from a night out with a family member, who continued walking while he entered a Chinese takeaway.<\/p>\n
It is understood that the victim, who is aged in his early 20s, continued walking up Dublin Road in Bray when he was stopped by two males who began an argument, before a third male came out of nowhere and stabbed the victim in his leg in an unprovoked attack.<\/p>\n
He fell to the ground, where he received three more stab wounds to his lower body.<\/p>\n
The three males fled the scene on foot before the injured party rang his cousin, who rushed to the scene and helped keep him stable until the ambulance arrived.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had taken my phone out initially to call my cousin when the argument started,\u201d said the victim, adding, \u201cHe saved my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man was rushed to St Vincent\u2019s Hospital in Dublin, where he underwent treatment over an 80-day period, which included repairing an artery in his leg and a procedure related to damage he sustained to his sciatic nerve.<\/p>\n
While in hospital, he was diagnosed with compartment syndrome, a serious condition in which pressure builds up inside a muscle compartment, reducing blood flow and potentially causing permanent muscle and nerve damage or forcing the limb to be amputated if not treated quickly.<\/p>\n
Doctors estimate he lost nine to 10 pints of blood during the incident.<\/p>\n
The victim has since been transferred to the Royal Hospital Donnybrook, where he is still undergoing physio and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
The victim described the whole incident as \u201ctough and long,\u201d thanking the \u201cmental fortitude\u201d he has gained through his journey to recovery.<\/p>\n
Councillor Ian Neary commented on the incident back in September 2025, stating that knife crime must be tackled to avoid further tragedy.<\/p>\n
The Independent Ireland councillor for Bray East said: \u201cIreland, sadly, is developing a very bad reputation for street violence and random knife crime. What was once a rare and shocking occurrence is becoming the norm, and it has reached crisis point.\u201d<\/p>\n
