<\/p>\nThe Duke of Sussex had penned the foreword for a surprising new non-fiction book, in which he talks about his late mother, Princess Diana, and one of her most poignant moment<\/p>\n

Prince Harry has described the love he has for his \u2018second home\u2019 in the foreword of an upcoming new book. The Duke of Sussex<\/a> shared his thoughts about Africa in Steve Boyes\u2019s new book, titled Okavango and the Source of Life: Exploring Africa’s Lost Headwaters, which will be released on March 3.<\/p>\n The book follows the National Geographic explorer as he leads its Okavango Wilderness Project through Africa, with the foreword recalling some of Harry\u2019s fond memories of the region. Harry has spoken about his love of Africa many times over the years, recalling numerous trips and charitable endeavours around the continent.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Kate Middleton question says everything about how she sees royal kids<\/a>READ MORE: King Charles ‘may be forced into Andrew Mountbatten U-turn’ over ‘problems’ at Marsh Farm<\/a> Prince Harry has written about his love of Africa in a new book(Image: Getty Images for Sentebale)<\/p>\n In its summary, the book says it features more than 100 photographs and maps of the \u201cprimeval wilderness still thriving on the planet\u201d and provides a glimpse into the \u201cgrit of explorers determined to preserve it\u201d.<\/p>\n In his foreword for the new book, seen by People<\/a> magazine, the Duke writes: \u201cThere are some places on Earth that are so vast, beautiful and alive, they truly open your eyes and mind.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Okavango Delta is one of those places, an enigmatic wetland that disappears into the Kalahari Desert and is home to the world<\/a> \u2019s largest remaining elephant population \u2014 a wilderness beyond comparison. This paradise has been my second home for more than 25 years, a place to escape and be enveloped by nature\u2019s sheer magnificence.\u201d<\/p>\n Harry followed in Diana’s footsteps with a trip to Angola(Image: AP)<\/p>\n Harry also mentioned his mother, the late Princess Diana<\/a>, and her love for Africa, as he wrote: \u201cBack in 1997, in Huambo, Angola, just a few miles from one of the sources of the Okavango, my mother walked through a live minefield being cleared by the HALO Trust, a humanitarian land mine clearance charity. That famous walk was a turning point in the fight against these lethal devices.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cAs wildfires rage and hurricanes tear apart entire peninsulas, we\u2019re faced with a harsh reality: a climate crisis and a mass extinction that can no longer be ignored. Appreciating, preserving and protecting these last wild ecosystems is essential to our collective survival. The best way for us to understand where we came from, and where we need to get to is by visiting places like the Okavango Delta \u2014 my source of life.\u201d<\/p>\n Harry has also been a long-time supporter of the HALO Trust, a UK-based charity that clears and manages explosives worldwide, following in the footsteps of his late mother. The Duke has also visited Africa multiple times with his wife, Meghan Markle<\/a>, travelling to Botswana in 2016 for their third date.<\/p>\n Harry and Meghan travelled to Botswana in 2016<\/p>\n In 2024, during a panel discussion at the South Beach restaurant Zaytinya in the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Harry said about Africa: \u201cAfrica’s in my heart, and Africa’s in my soul.
