{"id":272308,"date":"2026-01-30T17:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T17:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/272308\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T17:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T17:54:08","slug":"number-of-dart-stations-closed-this-weekend-for-scheduled-works-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/272308\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of Dart stations closed this weekend for scheduled works \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Scheduled engineering works combined with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/floods\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/floods\/\">flooding<\/a> are set to cause travel disruption for public transport users this weekend with a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dart\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dart\/\">Dart<\/a> stations closed. <\/p>\n<p>Rail travel<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">For rail users, the Enterprise train between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/belfast\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/belfast\/\">Belfast<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> is operating on a reduced timetable due to flooding on the line.  Bus transfers are in place between Newry and Belfast over the weekend. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">No train services will operate between Connolly\/Howth and Connolly\/Drogheda this bank holiday weekend due to engineering works,  services will operate between Connolly and Bray\/Greystones only.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The following Dart stations are closed from Saturday 31st to Monday 2nd: Malahide, Portmarnock,  Clongriffin, Howth,  Sutton, Bayside,  Howth Junction &amp; Donaghmede, Kilbarrack,  Raheny,  Harmonstown,  Killester and Clontarf Road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets for travel within the affected area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On Sunday and Monday, bus transfers will be in operation on the Cork mainline due to engineering works on those tracks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"> Bus services will also be in operation across Tralee services over the long weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On Saturday and Sunday, bus transfers will be in place between Portarlington and Athlone, due to engineering works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On the Dublin to Galway line and the Dublin to Westport, there will be bus transfers between Dublin Heuston and Athlone  but trains will operate as normal between Athlone to Galway and to Westport. The train times between Dublin and Athlone have been altered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Irish Rail says further information is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishrail.ie\/en-ie\/news\/irishrail-engineering-works#bus-arrangements\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishrail.ie\/en-ie\/news\/irishrail-engineering-works#bus-arrangements\">here.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Ferry travel<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">For those travelling by ferry this weekend, there are delays to the Rosslare-Cherbourg route on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Rosslare-Bilbao sailing routeis cancelled on Friday as well as the some Rosslare-Pembroke sailings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A number of Dover-Calais sailings are cancelled across the weekend due to operational reasons. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Irish Ferries says some of its routes are also sailing early across the weekend with Holyhead passengers advised to check <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishferries.com\/ie-en\/sailing-updates\/dublin-holyhead\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishferries.com\/ie-en\/sailing-updates\/dublin-holyhead\/\">here<\/a> for up to date information. <\/p>\n<p>Air travel<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">All Irish airports are set to be busy this weekend. Cork airport says it recommends that passengers should arrive at least 90 minutes before their flight is due to depart as 34,000 passengers will be going through it across the St Brigid\u2019s bank holiday weekend. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud835\udfef\ud835\udff0,\ud835\udfec\ud835\udfec\ud835\udfec \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf4\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddff \ud835\udde6\ud835\ude01. \ud835\uddd5\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf4\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf1&#8217;\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddd5\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf8 \ud835\udddb\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude06 \u2708\ufe0f <\/p>\n<p>As many escape the January blues and take off for a well deserved break, passengers travelling this weekend are advised to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before their flight is\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cvVIsWh2XI\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/cvVIsWh2XI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cork Airport (@CorkAirport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CorkAirport\/status\/2016778154870821147?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 29, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Road travel<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Roads are also set to be busy and there will be an increased number of Garda checkpoints on the roads over the bank holiday weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda Supt Liam Geraghty has encouraged road users to take extra care and for all drivers to slow down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThis weekend is going to be very, very challenging, right across the country, even if you\u2019re outside of the counties which have yellow rain warning,\u201d he told RT\u00c9\u2019s Morning Ireland on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cEverywhere around the country at the moment is very, very wet. Our roads are very wet and, because of that, there will be additional muck. There may also be debris from wind and trees and branches on our roads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cSo, the starting point is for everybody to slow down. If you\u2019re driving at a slower speed, you have a better capacity to react to dangers on the road as they happen in front of you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Supt Geraghty also advised against driving through roads blocked with water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIf you\u2019re coming across a road that is blocked with water, don\u2019t take the chance &#8230; At very least, you may damage your vehicle with floodwater damage.
