{"id":272347,"date":"2026-01-30T18:21:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T18:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/272347\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T18:21:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T18:21:15","slug":"nps-swasthya-pension-scheme-nsps-features-latest-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/272347\/","title":{"rendered":"NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS), Features, Latest News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS) is a new initiative launched by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to integrate health-related financial benefits with the existing National Pension System (NPS) framework.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tNPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS) Latest News<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) recently rolled out the NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS) on a pilot basis.<\/p>\n<p>About NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS)<\/p>\n<p>It is a new initiative launched by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) as a Proof of Concept (PoC) under its Regulatory Sandbox Framework.\u00a0<br \/>\nThe initiative aims to integrate health-related financial benefits with the existing National Pension System (NPS) framework.<br \/>\nThe scheme, launched for a limited and controlled period, is designed to provide financial support for out-patient and in-patient medical expenses.\u00a0<br \/>\nThe scheme will function as a sector-specific contributory pension scheme within the Multiple Scheme Framework (MSF) of NPS and will be offered to Indian citizens on a voluntary basis.<br \/>\nIt will be launched by Pension Funds after obtaining prior approval from PFRDA.\u00a0<br \/>\nAs it is being implemented as a pilot project, only a restricted number of subscribers will be enrolled during the PoC phase.<br \/>\nTo facilitate the pilot, certain provisions of the PFRDA (Exits and Withdrawals under NPS) Regulations, 2015, have been relaxed.\u00a0<br \/>\nPension Funds may also collaborate with FinTech firms and health service administrators to implement the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS) Features<\/p>\n<p>Any Indian citizen is eligible to join the scheme, but a Common Scheme Account under NPS is mandatory.<br \/>\nSubscribers can contribute any amount, in line with existing NPS guidelines applicable to the non-government sector.<br \/>\nSubscribers aged above 40 years (excluding government sector subscribers) may transfer up to 30% of their contributions from the Common Scheme Account to the Swasthya Pension Scheme.<br \/>\nPartial withdrawals are permitted for medical expenses up to 25% of the subscriber\u2019s own contributions, with no limit on the number of withdrawals, subject to a minimum accumulated corpus of \u20b950,000.<br \/>\nIn cases of critical inpatient treatment, where medical expenses exceed 70% of the available corpus, subscribers may opt for 100% premature withdrawal solely to meet such medical costs.<br \/>\nClaim Settlement and Safeguards:<\/p>\n<p>Amounts withdrawn under the scheme will be paid directly to the Health Benefit Administrator (HBA), Third Party Administrator (TPA), or hospital, based on valid claims and supporting bills.\u00a0<br \/>\nAny surplus remaining after settlement of medical expenses will be transferred back to the subscriber\u2019s Common Scheme Account.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/amp\/finance\/personal-finance\/pfrda-s-swasthya-pension-scheme-explained-where-it-helps-risks-involved-126012901141_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NPS Swasthya Pension Scheme (NSPS) FAQs<\/p>\n<p class=\"faq-question\" style=\"margin: 0.5em 0;padding:10px;color:#000;cursor:pointer\">Q1.
