A number of fixtures in this weekend’s Allianz League schedule have been forced into venue changes due to Storm Chandra.<\/p>\n
Last week saw 46 of the 47 games staged across both codes, with Waterford and Longford in Division 4 of the football league the only casualty<\/a>.<\/p>\n Torrential rainfall and flooding this week, particularly in the eastern part of the country, could impact this weekend\u2019s schedule, which is another featuring both men’s codes and women’s football.<\/p>\n Weather warnings remain in place for Friday<\/a>, though Met \u00c9ireann says rain will slowly clear through Saturday with scattered showers and sunny spells following from the southwest. Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected for Sunday.<\/p>\n Already three games have had venue changes in light of the wet conditions.<\/p>\n The Division 2 football clash between Louth and Cork in Ardee has been rearranged for Integral GAA Grounds in Drogheda, while a waterlogged pitch at FBD Semple Stadium means Tipperary\u2019s Division 4 clash with Antrim has been moved to St Flannan’s Park, Moneygall.<\/p>\n The NHL Division 4 clash on Saturday between Longford and Cavan has been moved to Michael Fay Park from Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.<\/p>\n The Antrim hurlers also have a change in venue, with the 1B encounter with Clare, originally slated for Dunloy, now set to take place at P\u00e1irc Naomh Mhuire amid fears that Pearse Park might not be playable with more rain forecast.<\/p>\n A rapid study of Storm Chandra by climate scientists<\/a> found it was the accumulation of rainfall over seven days, including on the day of the storm, that caused this week’s flooding to be so devastating – not the actual amount of rainfall that fell during the storm itself.<\/p>\n Watch Armagh v Galway in the Allianz Football League on Saturday from 4.30pm on RT\u00c92 and RT\u00c9 Player.
