{"id":275666,"date":"2026-02-01T17:29:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T17:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/275666\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T17:29:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T17:29:11","slug":"donegal-off-to-perfect-start-despite-late-kerry-goal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/275666\/","title":{"rendered":"Donegal off to perfect start despite late Kerry goal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Donegal made it two wins from two with a first victory over Kerry at the Ballyshannon venue of Fr Tierney Park since 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Kerry, minus Player of the Year David Clifford, were playing second fiddle for most of the game but thanks to the accuracy of Sean O&#8217;Shea they just about kept in touch until the end.<\/p>\n<p>The capacity crowd of 9,000, the biggest ever at the venue, went home happy with Young Footballer of the Year, Finnbarr Roarty outstanding for the winners.<\/p>\n<p>Donegal started brightly with points from Conor O\u2019Donnell and Roarty, but Sean O\u2019Shea cancelled those with a two-point free.<\/p>\n<p>That became the pattern.
