Newstalk\u2019s Andrea Gilligan has said it\u2019s a \u201creally exciting time\u201d ahead of the station\u2019s new scheduling change this week.<\/p>\n
Former RT\u00c9 star Claire Byrne will take up the reins on her new morning show on Tuesday as she replaces Pat Kenny on the 9am-12pm weekday slot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no doubt Claire will hit the ground running,\u201d said the Lunchtime Live presenter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a really exciting time. I\u2019ve never worked with Claire before so I\u2019m really excited to work with her. I hold her in really high esteem and we will be working very closely together because there\u2019s five minutes for Claire to vacate the studio and for me to come in at 11.55am every day.<\/p>\n
\u201cPat and I always had a really good friendship and relationship and I\u2019m looking forward to forging that with Claire as well. It\u2019s a really exciting time for Newstalk and there\u2019s a really good buzz about the place. I\u2019m there 13 years, I left for a period to go to RT\u00c9 and went back to Newstalk.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of my best friends are my colleagues, people I started working with in radio and that\u2019s brilliant. That\u2019s the buzz that makes the station And I\u2019m sure, for Claire coming back, she will notice the big change.\u201d<\/p>\n
She was speaking at Leopardstown racecourse for the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase. Rain may have stopped play for the first day, with Saturday\u2019s race card rescheduled for tomorrow but it did not stop the crowds from turning out in force for Sunday\u2019s racing.<\/p>\n

Thousands flocked to the southside track on St Brigid\u2019s Day to see the Michael O\u2019Leary-owned entry \u2018Brightersdayahead\u2019 claim top honours in the Irish Champion Hurdle.<\/p>\n
Other attendees at the Ladbrokes suite included Claudine Keane, Roz Lipsett, Shane Long and Jason McAteer. RT\u00c9\u2019s Nuala Carey said she was \u201choping to back a few winners\u201d at the course \u2013 and did not rule out a stint on Dancing with the Stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would definitely consider it, if I could organise a bit of time off work. I don\u2019t think you could work full-time and do it. So once there is some flexibility there with work, I would be interested in doing it.
