{"id":277023,"date":"2026-02-02T15:48:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/277023\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T15:48:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:48:10","slug":"cork-court-gives-woman-three-months-in-prison-for-dealing-drugs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/277023\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork court gives woman three months in prison for dealing drugs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Dealing alprazolam tablets has resulted in a young woman having three months added to an 18-month sentence she was already serving for another drug-dealing offence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Kelly O\u2019Brien, formerly of Glencree Crescent, Mayfield, Cork, was given the consecutive three-month sentence by Judge Catherine Ryan at Cork District Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Sergeant John Kelleher said Detective Garda Linda O\u2019Keeffe and garda colleagues executed a warrant at the Glencree Crescent address on June 12 2024. \u201cLocated during the search were approximately 930 alprazolam tablets valued at \u20ac1,860, along with a small quantity of diamorphine consistent with personal use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWhen Kelly O\u2019Brien was interviewed during her detention, she took responsibility for ownership of the alprazolam and stated she had them for the purpose of sale or supply. She outlined that she had the diamorphine for her own personal use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The sergeant added that as well as the drug-dealing conviction, O\u2019Brien had five convictions for having drugs for her own use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Solicitor Frank Buttimer said: \u201cShe fully cooperated with the investigation. She is pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity. She has engaged well with rehabilitation services in prison.
