The Walsh Sisters, the new drama series inspired by the novels of Irish author Marian Keyes, has landed a BBC release window. The six-part series, which launched on RT\u00c9 last year, is slated for release on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this month. <\/p>\n

Per an official description, The Walsh Sisters features the “chaotic, dysfunctional but deeply loveable Walsh family of five sisters, a devout mother and a bemused father”. <\/p>\n

The synopsis reads: “Set in their Dublin hometown, The Walsh Sisters follows the lives of Anna, Rachel, Maggie, Claire and Helen as they navigate the peaks and troughs of their 20s and 30s. <\/p>\n

“This is a sisterhood full of in-jokes, hand-me-down resentments and more than a few old wounds. But their DNA, history and shared love of power ballads keep the Walsh sisters together in the face of heartbreak, grief, addiction and parenthood.”<\/p>\n

Starring as the titular sisters are Oddity star Caroline Menton as Rachel, Renegade Nell’s Louisa Harland as Anna, House of Guinness star Danielle Galligan as Claire, Extraordinary’s Mairead Tyers as Helen and Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope’s Stefanie Preissner as Maggie. <\/p>\n

As well as starring in the show, Preissner serves as co-writer, adapting the novels along with Kefi Chadwick. <\/p>\n

Rounding out the cast are Practical Magic star Aidan Quinn and The Quiet Girl’s Carrie Crowley, who play Daddy Walsh and Mammy Walsh, respectively.<\/p>\n

So far, viewers are largely enjoying the drama, with one user review on IMDb<\/a> calling it “Irish TV done right”. They added: “Excellent Irish TV! The Walsh Sisters is such an enjoyable watch.”<\/p>\n

One viewer<\/a> said of the show: “I’m just after finishing episode two and although there’s a lot going on and much to process I think it’s brilliant so far.”<\/p>\n

Previously speaking about The Walsh Sisters<\/a>, David Crean, Head of Drama at RT\u00c9, said in a statement: “It\u2019s going to be a huge treat for audiences everywhere. I\u2019m delighted to add this brilliant drama series to our slate for 2025 and beyond.”<\/p>\n
