Bolton are currently third in the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI knew there\u2019d been an interest and Bolton reached out to me a lot during the summer, but I wanted to give Celtic a crack I think I have in the last six months. Promotion would be amazing, to bring this club back one division closer to where it should be and I hope I can help the club do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">7:14pm Junior Adamu sets sights on silverware after joining Celtic<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Austria forward Junior Adamu has set his sights on goals and plenty of silverware after joining Celtic on loan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 24-year-old has joined Martin O\u2019Neill\u2019s side from Freiburg, where he has only netted three Bundesliga goals in two and a half seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He previously scored 23 goals in 84 appearances in his formative years with RB Salzburg and he believes his move to Scotland can help him add to his nine Austria caps ahead of the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Hoops have also negotiated an option to buy Adamu, who told Celtic TV: \u201cI\u2019m very excited to be here and I can\u2019t wait to get started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI want to give my best for this club and try to win the title, also the cup, and Europa League, to score a lot of goals, and help the team. Guardian\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">6:34pm: Rangers hoping to seal Naderi deal<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Rangers boss Danny Rohl hopes to finalise a deal for Hansa Rostock forward Ryan Naderi, who has reportedly arrived in the UK, but it remains to seen if the German club will sanction the sale this month or hold on to their top scorer until the summer. Anthony Brown<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">6:17pm: Palace still working on signings<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Crystal Palace are still working hard to get one or two new signings over the line before the deadline but there are major doubts over whether Jean-Philippe Mateta will now depart after his move to Milan collapsed because the France striker failed a medical. Juventus have also shown an interest in a loan but time is running out for the 28-year-old to find a new club, with some reports suggesting he may need surgery on a knee injury that was picked up in the medical and has been carefully managed by Paace over recent months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As things stand, Jorgen Strand Larsen is still expected to join from Wolves for \u00a348m even if Mateta stays at Selhurst Park having already completed his medical, while Palace have made an improved bid for Dwight McNeil that they hope will be accepted by Everton. Their search for a centre back to replace Marc Guehi has yet to come to fruition despite being linked to a number of names including Ruben Kluivert of Lyon, West Ham\u2019s Max Kilman and Josh Acheampong of Chelsea. Ed Aarons, Guardian\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">5:34pm: Celtic reject \u00a325m bid for Arne Engels from Forest<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Celtic have rejected a \u00a325million bid for Arne Engels from Nottingham Forest, the Press Association understands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">After having offers in the region of \u00a314m and \u00a317m thrown out by the Scottish champions, it emerged on Monday afternoon that Forest had returned with a third bid of \u00a325m for the 22-year-old Belgium midfielder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, the Hoops have turned down the opportunity to make a significant profit on a player they bought for \u00a311m from Augsburg in August 2024. It remains to be seen if Forest will come back with an improved offer. Anthony Brown\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">\n            5.05pm John Egan is likely to remain at Hull City, despite recent interest from West Ham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Hammers had been looking to sign the Cork native in their bid to avoid relegation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">But speaking on deadline day, Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic said he believes Egan will stay at the club, who are currently third in the Championship, five points behind both Coventry in first and Middlesbrough in second.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Yes, he must train,&#8221; said Jakirovic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;What I know so far, there are no bids yet from these clubs, so I&#8217;m calm. I\u2019m told this deal is now moving in the right direction, with the Chelsea defender expected to undergo a medical this afternoon.\u201d Jacob Steinberg, Guardian\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Celtic and Rangers hoping to add players<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n            1.06pm\u00a0Celtic are aiming to complete several deadline-day deals but they could face a major decision the other way amid interest in Arne Engels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Manager Martin O&#8217;Neill confirmed on Sunday deals to sign Freiburg forward Junior Adamu and Lorient winger Joel Mvuka were at an advanced stage and more activity could follow with a central defender on the shopping list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">O&#8217;Neill had no knowledge of a reported \u00a314million bid from Nottingham Forest for midfielder Engels, who started in Sunday&#8217;s 2-0 win over Falkirk. So that might depend on us getting someone else in as cover.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Elsewhere in the William Hill Premiership, Rangers head coach Danny Rohl is hoping for another addition. &#8220;The club will make the final decision, what is on, what is not on,&#8221; he said after a goalless draw at Hibernian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Reds agree deal for Jacquet<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n            11.27am Liverpool have beaten Chelsea in the race to sign Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet after agreeing a fee of \u00a355million plus add-ons, the Press Association understands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 20-year-old will remain at the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season before moving to Anfield in the summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It comes after the Blues held talks in January and had been told that a fee and personal terms for the player would not be an issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, PA understands the situation changed following speculation Mamadou Sarr is set to return to Chelsea from his loan at Strasbourg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The club&#8217;s determination to keep academy graduate Josh Acheampong as well as the possibility of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate departing Anfield in the summer when his contract expires are also understood to have been factors in Jacquet&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The France under-21 international has has played for Rennes 18 times this season and his impressive displays since graduating from the club&#8217;s academy have seen him linked with a host of European clubs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The uncertain future of Konate, who has only months to run on his current deal and is yet to agree an extension, leaves open a route into the starting XI that the France under-21 international felt could be barred next season at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano who is delaying agreeing a new deal at the Allianz Arena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Chelsea had led the race to bring Jacquet to the Premier League. A central defensive player is a priority in the transfer market, particularly with Levi Colwill out for what is likely to be the whole season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Jacquet was a long-term target and there was optimism that a deal could be done in January to bolster Liam Rosenior&#8217;s options in the immediate term whilst keeping the club&#8217;s broader recruitment plans on track.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">His decision to join Liverpool is a blow, particularly after the squad&#8217;s defensive depth was shown to be lacking during a dreadful first half against West Ham on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The club are unwilling to bring in emergency cover for Colwill and will only sanction deals for players that fit their long-term plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Rosenior confirmed last week that academy graduate Acheampong, who can play both right-back and central defence, is a part of his plans and will not be sold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">PA understands that no deal is currently in place for Sarr, the 20-year-old defender who was part of Senegal&#8217;s triumphant Africa Cup of Nations side, to return from Strasbourg where he is on loan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aaron Anselmino however is set to go on loan to the Ligue 1 side before Monday&#8217;s 7pm deadline.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/4953842_31_articleinline_SOCCER_20Arsenal_20Women_20_2021420661.jpg\" alt=\"Arsenal's Katie McCabe celebrates with the FIFA Women's Champions Cup trophy. Pic: Adam Davy\/PA Wire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">McCabe heading for Arsenal exit<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n            11am Katie McCabe is likely to leave Arsenal when her contract expires this summer, with no new deal on the table after what sources have described as \u201cvery respectful discussions\u201d about her future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Arsenal regard McCabe as a club legend, the left-back having been there for just over 10 years and helped them become world and European champions, but they plan to refresh this summer with younger players.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">McCabe, 30, wants to continue starting routinely at the top level, and carry on winning trophies. Arsenal are understood to be targeting a summer move for the Barcelona and Spain full-back Ona Batlle, as first reported by the Athletic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Batlle is almost four years younger than McCabe and sources have indicated that talks are progressing well with a view to her signing a pre-contract agreement. She was part of the Barcelona side that reached last year\u2019s Champions League final against Arsenal in Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">McCabe is a fan favourite at Arsenal and her exit would be a highly emotional for her and the club. Neither Arsenal nor the player\u2019s representatives wished to comment on her future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Republic of Ireland international helped Arsenal win the Women\u2019s Super League in 2019 and has been a core part of their team for much of the modern, professional era, winning an FA Cup in 2016 and three League Cups, before last season\u2019s Champions League triumph and Sunday\u2019s victory in the inaugural Champions Cup.
