A Delta Air Lines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport<\/a> overnight after reports of a medical emergency on board.<\/p>\n

Delta flight DL234 was flying from New York<\/a> to Tel Aviv when it was forced to make an emergency “heavyweight” landing at Dublin Airport at around 1.17am.<\/p>\n

The plane was around four hours into it’s 10-hour journey when the flight crew transmitted a Squawk 7700\u2014the international signal for a general emergency. The pilot requested a diversion to Dublin<\/a> due to a medical emergency onboard.<\/p>\n

The aircraft was still early in its flight path, so was carrying a significant fuel load intended for the long-haul crossing to the Middle East. This resulted in a’ heavyweight landing procedure’ for the aircraft which was heavier than its usual landing weight.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that paramedics on the ground transported the patient to hospital.<\/p>\n

The flight resumed after takeoff at 5.03am from Dublin Airport.<\/p>\n
