The Fratellis<\/a> have postponed their \u2018Costello Music\u2019 20th anniversary UK tour, citing \u201congoing health issues\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Scottish indie band had been set to hit the road this week<\/a> to celebrate two decades of their 2006 debut studio record, which peaked at Number Two in the UK and earned an 8\/10 review from\u00a0NME<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dates included a show at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London, as well as stops in Nottingham, Cardiff, Norwich, Lincoln, Liverpool, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Portsmouth, Southend, Leeds, Newcastle and Bristol throughout this month.<\/p>\n

However, The Fratellis have now confirmed that the UK gigs will no longer take place as planned \u201cdue to illness in the band\u201d. They told fans that frontman Jon Fratelli is currently unwell and taking some time out to recover.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s summer festival appearances, including TRNSMT<\/a>, Y Not<\/a>, Rock N Roll Circus<\/a> and Neighbourhood Weekender<\/a>, remain unaffected.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the impacted dates remain valid for the rescheduled concerts, full details of which will be shared \u201cas soon as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really sad to announce that our \u2018Costello Music\u2019 20th anniversary tour has been postponed,\u201d The Fratellis wrote in a statement on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, Jon is unable to perform right now due to ongoing health issues. With the tour so close, it breaks our musical hearts to take this decision but in light of medical advice that Jon takes time to recover it\u2019s the only sensible option.\u201d<\/p>\n

They continued: \u201cNot long after The Fratellis were born (end of 2004\/beginning of 2005 depending on who you argue with) we were faced with a far more serious medical obstacle that should have ended our dream there & then. The thing is we just point blank fucking refused to accept that we couldn\u2019t do what we\u2019d set out to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaking no for an answer was no answer at all. We had stuff to do. We were going where we were going. End Of. With a wee bit of time we\u2019ll do now what we did then.. whatever it takes to get back onstage as quickly as possible, playing music for anyone who loves our thing as much as we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fratellis said they\u2019d been \u201cblown away\u201d by the response to their 20th anniversary tour, telling followers that they\u2019re \u201cdisappointed\u201d to be pushing it back.\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ll do everything possible to announce the new dates ASAP,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the postponement of the tour we\u2019re even more excited at the prospect of seeing many of you at our summer festival dates.. they really can\u2019t come quickly enough. We love you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Costello Music\u2019 features the UK top five hit \u2018Chelsea Dagger\u2019, top 10 track \u2018Whistle For The Choir\u2019, and the top 20 single \u2018Henrietta\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last summer saw The Fratellis perform in the Field Of Avalon<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Glastonbury 2025<\/a> and open for Catfish And The Bottlemen at their huge show in Glasgow<\/a>, while appearing at numerous other events.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2022<\/a>, Fratelli (real name Jon Lawler) remembered Justin Timberlake<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Scissor Sisters<\/a>\u00a0beating The Fratellis to Number One following the release of \u2018Costello Music\u2019.<\/p>\n

He also talked about\u00a0the group\u2019s music being described as \u201cindie landfill\u201d<\/a>, telling\u00a0NME: \u201cSome might think it\u2019s snobbery, but let\u2019s face it, we\u2019ve all got a bit of the snob about us \u2013 I certainly have.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Chelsea Dagger\u2019 produces this sort of total abandon that\u2019s a pleasure to stand back and watch. Most nights you don\u2019t even have to sing it \u2018cause the audience will take care of that. It\u2019s a song that\u2019s never dipped below a level of sheer fucking happiness for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fratellis have released six full-length studio albums overall, their latest being 2021\u2019s \u2018Half Drunk Under A Full Moon\u2019<\/a>.
