Nicola Peltz Beckham<\/a>\u2019s dad Nelson Peltz is invested in his daughter\u2019s marriage.<\/p>\n

Amid Nicola and her husband Brooklyn Peltz Beckham<\/a>\u2019s estrangement from his parents, the billionaire businessman recently weighed in with his thoughts on how he manages the public-facing nature of his family\u2019s affairs.<\/p>\n

“Has my family been in the press lately?\u201d Nelson quipped during The Wall Street Journal\u2019s Invest Live event<\/a> in West Palm Beach, Fla., Feb. 3. \u201cI haven’t noticed that at all.”<\/p>\n

As for wisdom the 83-year-old has tried to impart to his 10 children? He said, \u201cMy advice is to stay the hell out of the press. How much good did that do?”<\/p>\n

All jokes aside, Nelson said he would not share specifics on Nicola and Brooklyn\u2019s feud<\/a> with David Beckham and Victoria Beckham<\/a>, but noted he was in full support of their relationship.<\/p>\n

“My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat’s not for coverage here today, but I’ll tell you my daughter’s great, my son-law Brooklyn is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.” <\/p>\n

Of course, that support of his relationship with Nicola\u2014and their 2022 wedding\u2014is a large part of what Brooklyn claimed his parents lacked when publicly airing his grievances about David and Victoria last month, sharing he has been \u201ccontrolled by my parents for most of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

After all, the 26-year-old said that the Spice Girls member\u2014also mom to Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13, with the former soccer star\u2014had \u201crepeatedly invited women\u201d from his past into his and Nicola\u2019s lives in ways that were \u201cclearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cMy parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,\u201d Brooklyn wrote in his lengthy Jan. 19 statement shared to Instagram. \u201cMy mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cMy wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite the rift, though, Brooklyn noted that his romance with Nicola has been a saving grace.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief,\u201d he concluded. \u201cMy wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no rule saying you have to say yes to your future mother-in-law\u2019s signature label on your wedding day, but it was widely assumed from outside the planning circle that Nicola Peltz Beckham would wear a Victoria Beckham dress down the aisle when she and Brooklyn Beckham tied the knot in April 2022 at her family\u2019s estate in Palm beach, Fla.<\/p>\n

So when she didn\u2019t, going with Valentino Couture instead\u2026 Bad blood alert!<\/p>\n

Nicola stayed mum on the subject for months before finally saying there was no dress drama<\/a>, perhaps minus the disappointment when she found out she wouldn\u2019t be able to wear custom VB.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was going to and I really wanted to,\u201d Nicola told Variety in August 2022<\/a>, \u201cand then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn\u2019t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn\u2019t say you can\u2019t wear it; I didn\u2019t say I didn\u2019t want to wear it. That\u2019s where it started, and then they ran with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added Brooklyn, \u201cI\u2019ve learned they\u2019re always going to try to write stuff like that. They\u2019re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Grazia the following month, Nicola called the Beckhams \u201cgreat in-laws.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because, Nicola soon made clear on Instagram, she was spending time with her grandmother, who died less than a month later.<\/p>\n

In lieu of her presence at the party, Nicola wrote on Instagram, “Happy birthday to my beautiful mil @victoriabeckham i’m so sad i’m not there to celebrate you and hug you. Sending all my love from me and my naunni. I miss you all so much!” (Meanwhile, she had also shouted out Victoria on her actual April 17 birthday, captioning a photo of them together, \u201ci love you so much and love being your dance partner forever.”<\/p>\n

And Naunni\u2019s passing wasn\u2019t just devastating to Nicola. On May 16, Brooklyn paid tribute on Instagram, writing, \u201cCan\u2019t believe it\u2019s been a year without you naunni x you were always so happy and always made me laugh. I miss you and will love you forever x\u2026 it makes me so sad to think of our future kids not being able to know you x you were one of a kind and we miss you everyday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Beckham Doesn\u2019t Play Into Family Feud Narrative<\/p>\n

An insider told People<\/a> that it was Brooklyn who put the kibosh on attending David\u2019s party because he didn\u2019t want to see brother Romeo Beckham\u2019s then-girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, who had been popping up at more and more family affairs, including the March 2025 Victoria Beckham show during Paris Fashion Week, since the couple went public with their relationship in November 2024.<\/p>\n

However, responding to an Instagram commenter who was speculating as to why Brooklyn felt so strongly about being around Kim that he skipped his dad\u2019s party altogether, youngest brother Cruz Beckham wrote<\/a>, \u201cBrooklyn and Kim never dated.\u201d<\/p>\n

And E! News learned in June 2025 that Romeo and Kim have since broken up<\/a>, so perhaps a brotherly reunion is in order<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nicola Peltz Beckham Was Allegedly in Tears When Wedding Guest Marc Anthony Shouted Out Victoria Beckham<\/p>\n

More fuel for the wedding drama fire: The newlyweds\u2019 first dance didn\u2019t go as expected<\/a>, and it\u2019s extremely unclear why it went down as it allegedly did.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrooklyn and Nicola were under the impression they were being gifted their first dance by Marc Anthony,\u201d a source told E! News in May 2025. Instead, the singer announced, \u201c\u2018Please welcome to the stage the most beautiful woman in the room\u2014Victoria Beckham.\u2019 Brooklyn wasn\u2019t quite sure what to do and was put in an awkward situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, the source continued, \u201cNicola left the room crying. She eventually came back and was able to collect herself to celebrate the rest of her wedding.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident wasn\u2019t so disastrous on the groom\u2019s side of the family as to prevent David from being a best man at Marc\u2019s wedding<\/a> in January 2023, when he married fourth wife Nadia Ferreira. But it\u2019s understandable if the bride had a harder time getting over it.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn and Nicola \u201chave made good faith efforts over the years\u201d to have a relationship with his family, the source said, but at this time things aren\u2019t good.<\/p>\n

Probably apropos of nothing, though possibly not, Brooklyn called Nicola his \u201cwhole world\u201d in a May 2025 Instagram post<\/a>, writing, \u201cI always choose you baby x you\u2019re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Hire a Lawyer<\/p>\n

When the stories get pointed, the pointed-at retain legal counsel. And the May story about Nicola being brought to tears at her own wedding<\/a> three years ago may have been a harbinger of more to come.<\/p>\n

In response to reports that Brooklyn and Nicola had hired a lawyer who has worked with the oft-written-about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a source with knowledge confirmed to E! News that the couple do have a lawyer, but not for \u201creputation management.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather, the source said, they have hired Jenny Afi of U.K. law firm Schillings \u201cto set the record straight, combat spread of misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while the solicitor\u2019s clientele includes the Sussexes, who counted the soon-to-be-knighted David<\/a> and Victoria among their wedding guests in 2018, \u201cthere is absolutely no connection to Meghan and Harry,\u201d the insider added. \u201cSchillings is a respected firm with a wide range of clients.\u201d<\/p>\n

Suggesting otherwise, the source said, ironically demonstrated \u201cexactly why one hires legal counsel, to set the record straight and combat the spread of deliberate misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Beckham Absent for David Beckham’s Career Milestones<\/p>\n

When David was awarded a knighthood in November 2025, neither Brooklyn or Nicola publicly commented on the accolade. The couple was also noticeably absent when David’s soccer team Inter Miami CF won the MLS Cup in December 2025\u2014with only Victoria, Romeo, Cruz and Harper at the game to celebrate the victory. <\/p>\n

Brooklyn Beckham skipped out on his family’s 2025 Christmas celebrations, opting to spend the holiday with wife Nicola’s family instead, including her mom Claudia Heffner Peltz and dad Nelson Peltz. Meanwhile, younger brother Cruz spent a cozy holiday at home with his parents.<\/p>\n

David Beckham Leaves Brooklyn Beckham Out of New Years Eve Post<\/p>\n

In David’s recap of 2025<\/a>, the soccer star shared several photos with family and friends from throughout the year. However, not a single one included his eldest son or Brooklyn’s wife Nicola amid rumors of their family rift.<\/p>\n

Hour later, David shared throwback snapshots<\/a> of himself with each of his and Victoria’s kids, writing over a black-and-white portrait with Brooklyn, “I love you all so much.”<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Beckham Breaks His Silence<\/p>\n

In January 2026, Brooklyn shared a lengthy statement to Instagram<\/a> detailing his estrangement with his family. <\/p>\n

\u201cI do not want to reconcile with my family,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the allegations in his post, Brooklyn claimed his parents \u201chave controlled narratives in the press\u201d about their family, that they have only cared about “Brand Beckham” and that they\u2019ve long been trying \u201cto ruin\u201d his and Nicola\u2019s relationship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And while he said he grew up with anxiety, since distancing himself from his family he’s felt “peace and relief.\u201d<\/p>\n
