More than 6,000 Republic of Ireland supporters have applied for tickets for the World Cup play-off semi-final with Czech Republic in Prague. <\/p>\n
The game is taking place on Tuesday, 26 March at the Fortuna Arena, which is the home of Slavia Prague and has a capacity of 19,370.<\/p>\n
A minimum of 5% of tickets must go to away fans under UEFA rules, with the final number available for Irish supporters coming in at 1,024.<\/p>\n
As a result, over 5,000 fans will miss out.<\/p>\n
Tickets are being allocated based on the supporter’s attendance for the last 10 undersubscribed away games.<\/p>\n
That means only fans with a record of travelling very regularly to support the Irish team will be considered.<\/p>\n
Fans will be informed by 13 February if they are successful in their application.<\/p>\n
There is huge interest in the match with additional flights from Irish airlines to facilitate supporters travelling also snapped up.<\/p>\n
The winner of the tie will face Denmark or North Macedonia in a final at their home venue.<\/p>\n
The Aviva Stadium is now sold out for Irish supporters for that game on Tuesday 31 March, whether it is a World Cup play-off final clash or a friendly with the loser of the tie between Denmark and North Macedonia.<\/p>\n
