iOS 26.2.1 was released last week<\/a>, adding support for AirTag 2<\/a>, alongside bug fixes. However, a small minority of users are reporting that it has introduced bugs rather than removed them.<\/p>\n

Among the problems being reported are apps crashing, freezing, or lagging; connectivity failures; and severe battery drain \u2026<\/p>\n

Macworld<\/a> spotted the reports on multiple forums. <\/p>\n

One\u00a0thread<\/a>\u00a0on the Apple Community forum is called \u201ciOS 26.2.1 has rendered my phone unusable\u201d and complains that nearly every app on the user\u2019s iPhone has started to crash or freeze since installing the update. They report that deleting apps and files doesn\u2019t appear to help [\u2026]<\/p>\n

There\u2019s yet\u00a0another thread<\/a>\u00a0on Apple Community called \u201cConnectivity failure after iOS 26.2.1 update\u201d that complains that the user\u2019s iPhone can no longer connect to the phone provider\u2019s network. And even the\u00a0thread<\/a>\u00a0discussing MacObserver\u2019s original news story features a lot more commenters reporting the same issues [\u2026]<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, you can read more complaints on a\u00a0Reddit thread<\/a>\u00a0called \u201ciOS 26.2.1 feels like an user experiment\u201d which has plenty of comments.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that these issues don\u2019t appear to be widespread. At the time of writing, the two Apple support community threads have 141 and 46 people respectively saying \u201cme too.\u201d The Reddit thread has 277 upvotes and 78 comments.<\/p>\n

All the same, this is enough to suggest that there is a real issue for at least some users. We\u2019ve reached out to Apple for comment and will update with any response.<\/p>\n
