Musician Kate Nash has told British MPs she has to \u201csell pictures of my bum on the internet\u201d to be able to fund her tour.<\/p>\n

The Foundations singer was giving evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee on\u00a0how post-Brexit rules are affecting performing arts touring and working in the EU.<\/p>\n

Ms Nash told MPs she lost \u00a326,000 (\u20ac30,000) on her last tour of Europe and \u00a313,000 (\u20ac15,000) on her last tour of the UK because of rising costs.<\/p>\n

She revealed she had to lay off a crew member just before Christmas, which she felt guilty about, adding: \u201cI was doing everything I could do to cut costs, which I really hate doing as an employer.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told MPs: \u201cWe are at risk of losing our reputation and pride in our culture, which will have a knock-on effect on the UK economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more we limit artists, the more we limit UK culture on a global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Nash warned MPs that only the wealthy would be able to afford to tour if the issue is not addressed.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cHaving been an artist for 20 years, having the success I do, the fanbase I do, selling thousands of tickets and having millions of streams \u2013 I\u2019m within my rights to protect that integrity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think music should not be exclusive, it\u2019s for all, and\u00a0it becomes an issue of class, it becomes an issue of race, gender and sexuality and identity, because the doors are closing on who can choose to take that kind of risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is really real \u2013 if a new artist doesn\u2019t have disposable income, I don\u2019t understand how they would be able to do shows in the UK, let alone in Europe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there is a pipeline we are not thinking through about the future of UK music and how we are seen culturally around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Nash said despite her success, she can only fund her tours because of her OnlyFans account.<\/p>\n

She told MPs: \u201cNow the only reason it is possible for me to do it is because I sell pictures of my bum on the internet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started an OnlyFans account during my last touring cycle to get some attention on the issue, which it did,<\/p>\n
