For roughly a decade and a half, Slipknot<\/a> fans have wondered one thing: what the fuck is Look Outside Your Window and when is it coming out? Well, we finally have a release date and it\u2019s coming up pretty soon \u2014 just don\u2019t expect it to have Slipknot\u2019s name emblazoned on it.<\/p>\n

Set to be released as a self-titled project, Look Outside Your Window will be released exclusively on vinyl for Record Store Day, or April 18 for those that don\u2019t pay attention to that sort of thing. Today\u2019s announcement finally puts to bed the \u201cwill they, won\u2019t they\u201d shenanigans that\u2019s led to missed deadlines and members threatening to release the damn thing themselves on the internet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Look Outside Your Window was recorded during the 2008 All Hope Is Gone sessions, but it\u2019s really more like a Slipknot side project featuring M. Shawn \u201cClown\u201d Crahan, Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and DJ Sid Wilson. In the past, it\u2019s been described as having a sort of Radiohead sound, so if you\u2019re thinking it\u2019s gonna sound like anything these guys have done before, you\u2019re going to be disappointed.<\/p>\n

The entire project is described by the four men involved as such:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew we were heading down a different creative path, entirely apart from Slipknot, and we followed it eagerly. We called the project Look Outside Your Window as a tribute to this experimental spirit.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreated during a chaotic time in our shared history, the songs were born late at night, in a house on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Peering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no rules; ideas could come from anywhere: subtle drum loops, bits of organ or abstract guitar noise, even samples of frogs or crickets. Guided by emotion and instinct, we let the sounds themselves point the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once released, the Record Store Day vinyl pressing of Look Outside Your Window will feature a splatter vinyl with a die-cut jacket, purple foil details, purple flood inside the jacket, and embossed text on the back. <\/p>\n

Now that this officially coming out, we can all now get over this thing and move on to the next Slipknot release.<\/p>\n
