The new porch is front and centre (well actually just off centre due to a dividing wall), and opens onto a smart blue boot room, fitted out with bespoke joinery. It feels at once classic and contemporary \u2013 a theme that runs through this house.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was a slightly more modern brief, but with relaxed touches, almost bohemian,\u2019 says Holly. The kitchen, for instance, has everything you\u2019d expect in a typical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseandgarden.co.uk\/topic\/country\" isautogenerated=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">country<\/a>-house scheme \u2013 finely crafted joinery, oak-topped island, limestone floor \u2013 while the dining area has a rustic charm, with chicken-wire doors on the cupboards, woven willow pendant lights and French 1950s ox-back chairs. These chairs are among a number of antique, vintage and reclaimed pieces that Holly sourced specifically for this project, from markets, fairs and online sellers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image may contain Indoors Interior Design Kitchen Cabinet Furniture Plant Closet and Cupboard\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ResponsiveImageContainer-eNxvmU cfBbTk responsive-image__image\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Vaughan%20Design13355%201.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In lieu of full curtains or blinds, Holly designed little fabric pelmets for the kitchen windows, made in cornflower blue \u2018Narrow Stripe\u2019 from Volga Linen.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Snook<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The mirrors in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseandgarden.co.uk\/topic\/bathroom\" isautogenerated=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bathroom<\/a> have to be one of my favourite ever finds,\u2019 she says. \u2018They\u2019re super heavy so we had to have extra support put in that wall.\u2019 The tiled wall of the shower, meanwhile, has been inset with an old ship\u2019s window that brings in extra light and character. \u2018I also love the wooden armchair in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseandgarden.co.uk\/topic\/bedroom\" isautogenerated=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bedroom<\/a> that I found at Kempton,\u2019 adds Holly. \u2018I\u2019m still a bit gutted I didn\u2019t keep it for myself.\u2019 Covered in Rosa Bernal\u2019s \u2018Sevilla\u2019 linen, dotted with tiny oranges, it looks very pretty indeed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image may contain Floor Door Flooring Indoors Interior Design Architecture Building Housing Chair and Furniture\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ResponsiveImageContainer-eNxvmU cfBbTk responsive-image__image\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Vaughan%20Design13520%201.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Looking from the new colonnade into kitchen, where an antique armchair from Kempton market re-covered in \u2018Shashka\u2019 in ochre\/natural by Volga Linen \u2013 and paired with a cushion in \u2018Lost and Found\u2019 in denim by Kit Kemp for Christopher Farr Cloth \u2013 is positioned in front of the french windows.
