A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight in Cork earlier today. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n
The assault occurred at a business premises in the city centre before 1pm The victim, who is in his 40s, is understood to have been injured when he was assaulted with a bladed weapon. Garda\u00ed and emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident, which occurred at approximately 12.40pm.<\/p>\n
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment of injuries understood to be non-life-threatening. A man in his 30s was arrested and taken to a Garda Station in the city where he is being detained.<\/p>\n
A Garda spokesperson confirmed investigations are ongoing, and said: “Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene of an incident of assault that occurred on Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork city this Friday afternoon at approximately 12:40 pm, 6th February 2026.<\/p>\n
“A male in his 40s was conveyed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A male in his 30s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Cork city. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.|<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, 167 new probationary Garda\u00ed were attested at the Garda College in Templemore this morning. Out of 21 newly attested Garda\u00ed now taking on operational responsibilities in the Southern Region<\/a>, five will be coming to Cork.
