{"id":286381,"date":"2026-02-07T23:15:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T23:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/286381\/"},"modified":"2026-02-07T23:15:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T23:15:09","slug":"ouattaras-late-goal-sees-brentford-overcome-newcastle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/286381\/","title":{"rendered":"Ouattara&#8217;s late goal sees Brentford overcome Newcastle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dango Ouattara blasted Brentford victory at Newcastle to boost their hopes of European qualification and further dent those of the Magpies.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old Burkina Faso international struck five minutes from time to seal a 3-2 Premier League win at a wintry St James&#8217; Park.<\/p>\n<p>It proved another difficult day for the Magpies, who had taken an early lead through Sven Botman\u2019s first goal since New Year\u2019s Day 2024, only for Vitaly Janelt and Igor Thiago\u2019s penalty \u2013 his 18th goal of the season \u2013 to turn the game on its head before Bruno Guimaraes levelled from the spot.<\/p>\n<p>Eddie Howe\u2019s men have now lost four times at home this season and dropped 19 points from a winning position, a fact which was not lost on a disappointed home crowd on the final whistle.<\/p>\n<p>The Bees moved the ball in confident fashion early on with former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson providing the fulcrum, although it was his foul on Lewis Hall on the edge of the box from which Sandro Tonali drilled a 10th-minute free-kick well over.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey Barnes went close again with 15 minuets gone when, after goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher had punched Tonali\u2019s corner to Jacob Murphy on the edge of the box, he drilled in a low ball which the former Leicester player backheeled just wide.<\/p>\n<p>Keane Lewis-Potter, in for the suspended Kevin Schade, only just failed to get on the end of Michael Kayode\u2019s low 20th-minute cross with the visitors seeing plenty of the ball, but their side fell behind four minutes later.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keith Andrews, Manager of Brentford, shakes hands with Dango Ouattara of Brentford after the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Brentford at St James' Park on February 07, 2026 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
