Amazon\u2019s Ring, which has raised some eyebrows thanks to its recent <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/12\/09\/amazons-ring-rolls-out-controversial-ai-powered-facial-recognition-feature-to-video-doorbells\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">incorporation<\/a> of facial recognition software, is attempting a PR turnaround by inserting its <a href=\"https:\/\/abc.com\/cast\/b002321b-f329-4386-b241-641603cf96ce\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shark Tank\u2013infamous founder<\/a> and his dog straight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/ring-super-bowl-ad-search-party-dogs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">into this year\u2019s ad<\/a>, promoting Ring A.I.\u2019s purported ability to find lost pets. The automated expense management platform Ramp is deploying The Office\u2019s beloved accountant Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/creativity\/brian-baumgartner-is-the-true-star-of-the-office-in-ramps-super-bowl-ad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">human stand-in<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/cepr.org\/voxeu\/columns\/ai-and-paperclip-problem\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">paperclip maximization<\/a>, with the app cloning Kevin enough times to have him take over the entire office space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"37\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7jvch001l3b7dxfjwnpb9@published\">Plus, YouTube titan MrBeast has been <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/mrbeast-salesforce-super-bowl-commercial-1236632871\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">teasing his first-ever gametime ad<\/a>, on behalf of Salesforce. Details are still vague, but it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/media\/salesforce-teaser-mrbeast-super-bowl-60-ad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">appears<\/a> Slack\u2019s parent company will highlight Beast Industries\u2019 noted <a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/customer-stories\/mrbeast-story\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">excitement over the workplace app\u2019s A.I. agents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"81\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7jvch001m3b7dsgi9ctv6@published\">There\u2019s little doubt that Sunday will herald the A.I. Super Bowl, where millions of Americans will get blitzed with constant reminders of the robot arms race whenever the cameras tune away from the Seahawks\u2013Patriots matchup or the Bad Bunny halftime show. It obviously isn\u2019t the first Super Bowl with A.I.-themed ads. Serena Williams is appearing on behalf of the health care platform Ro, which deploys A.I. in everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/ro.co\/dtp\/ai-triage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">patient conversations<\/a> to its newest ad\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ro.co\/perspectives\/making-of-super-bowl-ad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pre-production<\/a> process. Xfinity\u2019s first-ever Big Game bid utilizes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/jurassic-park-super-bowl-ad-xfinity-original-cast-1236489848\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">de-aging software<\/a> to bring Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill back to the \u201990s. If that isn\u2019t enough evidence that <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/requiemarm.bsky.social\/post\/3mdwgg7jci22n\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">irony\u2019s as dead as the dinosaurs<\/a>, flip to Anthropic\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/article\/anthropic-super-bowl-ad-mocks-chatgpt-ads\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four ads<\/a> about how its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-02-03\/legal-software-stocks-plunge-as-anthropic-releases-new-ai-tool?fromMostRead=true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">much-hyped<\/a> Claude bots will never, well, incorporate ads\u2014taking a clear shot at OpenAI, whose executives are <a href=\"https:\/\/adage.com\/technology\/ai\/aa-open-ai-ceo-cmo-respond-to-anthropic-super-bowl-ad\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">not happy<\/a> about it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"131\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7jvch001o3b7d0h8giwrg@published\">The real twist is that consumers also seem to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iab.com\/insights\/the-ai-gap-widens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">loathe<\/a> this marketing ploy. 2025\u2019s A.I. ad spend <a href=\"https:\/\/civicscience.com\/super-bowl-ad-recap-fewer-viewers-were-swayed-as-ai-fails-to-score-big\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">didn\u2019t get viewers more excited<\/a> about the tech. Consumers surveyed this month by Ad Age and Harris feel <a href=\"https:\/\/adage.com\/super-bowl\/aa-2026-commercials-what-viewers-want-to-see-humor-ai\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mostly negative<\/a> about the prospect of more A.I. generations on the Super Bowl broadcast. The YouTube comments for Taika Waititi\u2019s Pepsi spot <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pPHI2zNf_ww?si=_V4nMh5uB3PMMN3j\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">express near-universal relief<\/a> that, unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/artificial-intelligence\/coke-ai-holiday-ad\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coca-Cola<\/a>, this soft-drink company doesn\u2019t go the generated-promotion route. (Svedka, meanwhile, has employed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mashed.com\/2091485\/svedka-super-bowl-ad-2026-ai-hellscape\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">same A.I. firm<\/a> behind the hated Coke ad for its own bowl spot\u2014and it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pkeWRI2yJGM\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">turned off<\/a> YouTube comments.) OpenAI is well aware that its big Super Bowl debut <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2026-02-02\/openai-bets-on-super-bowl-ad-to-stand-out-from-rivals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">flopped last year<\/a>, and the ChatGPT-maker was already puzzling through how to make this round\u2019s minutelong spot more appealing before Anthropic came in hot with its diss.<\/p>\n<p>          <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/technology\/2026\/02\/super-bowl-lx-commercials-mrbeast-amazon-artificial-intelligence-crypto.html\" class=\"in-article-recirc__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>            The Biggest Star of the Super Bowl Isn\u2019t an Athlete\u2014or Bad Bunny<br \/>\n          <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"162\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7jvch001p3b7d1sxly2cs@published\">The sheer saturation of new A.I. gambits, added to the mismatch with consumer priorities, give this year\u2019s NFL showcase the sector-specific recession-indicator vibes that have defined Super Bowls of the past. 2022 was a <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/technology\/2023\/02\/super-bowl-ads-crypto-ftx-larry-david-coinbase-matt-damon.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pride-cometh-before-the-fall event<\/a> for the cryptocurrency bubble, which collapsed in such spectacular fashion later that year\u2014thanks largely to <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/technology\/2023\/10\/sam-bankman-fried-trial-testimony-yedidia-julliard-opening-statements.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Super Bowl ad client Sam Bankman-Fried<\/a>\u2014that none of its major brands have ever returned to the broadcast. (By the way, despite the Trump administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/crypto\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">corrupt bargains<\/a> with crypto execs, the coins themselves are once again <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/technology\/2026\/02\/bitcoin-crypto-treasury-wall-street-microstrategy.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">crashing, hard<\/a>.) Mortgage lender Ameriquest was as conspicuous a presence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB109710083303138474\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in the mid-2000s Super Bowls<\/a> as it was an absence in the later aughts, having folded in 2007 when the risky subprime loans it specialized in helped kick off the financial crisis. And then there were all those bowl-game commercials for websites like <a href=\"http:\/\/pets.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pets.com<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/computer.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Computer.com<\/a> in 2000, when the dot-com rush brought <a href=\"https:\/\/thehustle.co\/the-year-startups-took-over-the-super-bowl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">attention<\/a> to a slew of digital startups that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/02\/05\/10-super-bowl-ads-from-advertisers-that-dont-exist-anymore.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">went bust<\/a> with the bubble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"92\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7jvch001q3b7drp3s71fm@published\">Does this Super Bowl\u2019s record-breaking A.I. ad splurge also portend a coming pop? Look at the business environment: The biggest names in the industry are swapping unimaginable stacks of cash <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/very-troubling-ais-self-investment-spree-sets-off-bubble-alarms-on-wall-street-160524518.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exclusively with one another<\/a>. One firm\u2019s stock price <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hussmanfunds.com\/comment\/mc251028\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">depends<\/a> on another firm\u2019s projections, which depend on another contractor\u2019s successes. Necessary infrastructure is meeting resistance, and all-around investment in these projects is <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/artificial-intelligence\/ai-companies-distress-money-infrastructure\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">riskier<\/a> than ever.
