Olivia Colman has revealed she has always described herself to her husband as a gay man, as she opened up on her identity. <\/p>\n

The 52-year-old actress is best known for her roles in The Crown and Heartstopper, and is currently doing promotional work for her next upcoming gig.<\/p>\n

Queer flick, Jimpa, had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last month and tells the tale of a mother, and her nonbinary teenager who travel to visit her gay father.<\/p>\n

Nonbinary means that the person identifies outside the traditional male or female bracket. <\/p>\n

Speaking to Them<\/a>, Olivia revealed she has always \u2018felt sort of nonbinary,\u2019 adding that she \u2018never felt massively feminine in my being female.\u2019<\/p>\n

She shared: \u2018I\u2019ve always described myself to my husband as a gay man and he goes, \u201cYeah, I get that.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n

The actress added that she doesn\u2019t spend much time with people who are \u2018staunchly heterosexual\u2019 and the men she frequents are in touch with \u2018all sides of themselves.\u2019<\/p>\n

Olivia has been married to screenwriter and film producer Ed Sinclair, with the pair sharing three children \u2014 Finn, 20, Hall, 18, and a ten-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the publication, Olivia explained that she and Ed \u2018take turns to be the \u201cstrong one\u201d or the one who needs a little bit of gentleness.\u2019<\/p>\n

Last year, the couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, with Olivia telling the Good Hang podcast<\/a> of how they had been together some 31 years.<\/p>\n

The key to their successful relationship, she revealed, was that they are \u2018not big fighters.\u2019 <\/p>\n

She shared: \u2018We have learned over the years \u2014 but really late on actually \u2014 to sometimes [think], if that was annoying, just wait. <\/p>\n

\u2018It doesn\u2019t work for everyone, I know that, but I think it\u2019s much better to wait until the calmer moments to go, \u201cCan we talk about that moment?\u201d\u2018 <\/p>\n

Ed had dabbled in acting before turning to screenwriting and film producing, and is the brains behind 2021 Sky drama series Landscapers, which starred Olivia across from David Thewlis.<\/p>\n
