Turns out Timothee Chalamet<\/a> is somewhat of a nepo baby \u2013 but do you know who his famous uncle is?<\/p>\n The Marty Supreme actor<\/a> has been dominating awards season so far, scooping gongs at the Critics\u2019 Choice Awards and Golden Globes<\/a>, among others, for his portrayal of the table tennis player.<\/p>\n And he\u2019s a strong contender for the Oscars<\/a> too, having already made history as the youngest performer to score three acting noms<\/a> \u2013 in short, still only 30, his career is absolutely rocketing.<\/p>\n However, it turns out the Hollywood heartthrob, who quickly rose to fame in 2017\u2019s Call Me by Your Name, has entertainment roots and a deep connection to the industry after all.<\/p>\n Fans online had the revelation when Chalamet\u2019s agent, Brian Swardstrom, responded to reports that he had auditioned for Gladiator 2 by saying: \u2018He hasn\u2019t auditioned for anything in more than seven years.\u2019<\/p>\n The replies were soon flooded with bewilderment, as people said it\u2019s \u2018not a flex\u2019 and questioned why his team would \u2018voluntarily admit this\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Others suggested that it was simply a sign of his \u2018star power\u2019 levels, while @MarcosS92952 informed the masses: \u2018Chalamet is a nepo baby but a lot of people don\u2019t know that, but he has a uncle in the industry that open a lot of doors for him [sic]\u2019.<\/p>\n Indeed, Chalamet\u2019s uncle on his mum\u2019s side is respected filmmaker Rodman Flender.<\/p>\n The American actor and director, 63, made his production debut with the thriller\u00a0The Unborn in\u00a01991, while he\u2019s also directed feature films\u00a0Leprechaun 2\u00a0(1994) and Idle Hands\u00a0(1999).<\/p>\n TV-wise, he\u2019s been involved with some of the biggest shows of recent times, with directing credits on episodes of\u00a0The Office,\u00a0Ugly Betty,\u00a0and\u00a0Gilmore Girls.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more, Flender has been best pals with Conan O\u2019Brien for decades. In 2011, he helmed the documentary Conan O\u2019Brien Can\u2019t Stop, which was even declared one of the best documentaries of that year by\u00a0Roger Ebert.<\/p>\n In recent years, Flender has turned his hand to romantic comedies and horror films, including Eat, Brains, Love.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t But the links to Hollywood don\u2019t stop there, as Flender\u2019s sister, Nicole Flender, aka Chalamet\u2019s mum, is also an actress, best known for 1992\u2019s In the Heat of Passion and The Bird Watcher. <\/p>\n These days, though, when not beaming with pride next to her son on red carpets, she is an accomplished real estate agent with Corcoran Real Estate in New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n She\u2019s been selling real estate with them for nearly a decade, according to Curbed<\/a>, ever since her husband, Marc Chalamet, a French journalist who now works for the UN, \u2018spotted a Groupon deal for discounted courses at the New York<\/a> Real Estate Institute.\u2019<\/p>\n Before this, she was a dance teacher in NYC public schools.\u00a0<\/p>\n Basically, everyone in this family is a success story, including Chalamet\u2019s sister, Pauline Chalamet, 34, who starred in The Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO<\/a> from 2021 to 2025 and will appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2.<\/p>\n When a deep dive into the Chalamet empire, if you will, made its way to Reddit<\/a>, fans couldn\u2019t believe it, arguing the connections would have surely \u2018opened doors\u2019 for the Dune star.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Many jumped to Chalamet\u2019s defence, though, with RealBug56 commenting: \u2018Is this really nepotism or just a very talented actor getting work based on previous success? I hate \u201cnepo babies\u201d as much as anyone, but he\u2019s genuinely good in everything he appears in.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Nepotism certainly helped him get his start in the industry, but I feel like at this point Timoth\u00e9e has earned his stripes. He chooses his projects well and it\u2019s his talent that has cemented him as a well respected young actor. The same cannot be said for the other nepo babies who try their hand at acting\u2019, wrote Own-Ad5898.<\/p>\n Despite his now astronomical levels of fame, Chalamet, who is dating Kylie Jenner<\/a>, has remained close with his family.<\/p>\n During his speech at this year\u2019s Golden Globes, in fact, he shouted out his father for \u2018instilling a spirit of gratitude\u2019 in him growing up, teaching him to \u2018always be grateful for what you have\u2019.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, his mother always knew he was destined for greatness.<\/p>\n \u2018He was a normal kid,\u2019 she told Business Insider. \u2018He wanted to be a soccer star.\u2019<\/p>\n Now often his plus one to major events, she added sweetly: \u2018The photographers love us.<\/p>\n \u2018They always want me to get in the picture.
