{"id":288424,"date":"2026-02-09T06:01:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T06:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/288424\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T06:01:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T06:01:14","slug":"more-employment-opportunities-for-people-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/288424\/","title":{"rendered":"More employment opportunities for people with disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Policymakers must be \u201cin tune\u201d with the needs of people with disabilities, according to a Mayo minister.<\/p>\n<p>Fine Gael TD for Mayo and Junior Minister at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment Alan Dillon attended Fine Gael\u2019s Disability Network conference in Galway on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The conference featured panel discussions involving people with disabilities outlining their lived experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Dillon spoke alongside other Fine Gael politicians, including T\u00e1naiste Simon Harris, at the event, and one of the things he discussed was<br \/>enabling people with disabilities to enter employment.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland has one of the largest disability employment gaps in Europe, with 36.7% of people with disabilities in unemployment according to the European Union\u2019s 2025 Country Report for Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Dillon spoke to Midwest Radio\u2019s Scott Stephens at the conference, and he began by explaining what the event was about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.midwestradio.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DILLONDISABILITY.mp3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.midwestradio.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DILLONDISABILITY.mp3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Policymakers must be \u201cin tune\u201d with the needs of people with disabilities, according to a Mayo minister.
