{"id":289147,"date":"2026-02-09T18:24:48","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T18:24:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/289147\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T18:24:48","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T18:24:48","slug":"sony-no-change-in-status-for-xperia-phones-xperia-1-viii-and-10-viii-found-in-imei-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/289147\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony: &#8220;no change in status&#8221; for Xperia phones, Xperia 1 VIII and 10 VIII found in IMEI database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xperia fans may have been biting their nails after Sony put its prestigious Bravia TV brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/sony_and_tcl_announce_joint_venture_bravia_tvs_part_of_deal-news-71180.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">under TCL control<\/a>, but during the recent earnings call Sony Corporate Executive Officer and CFO Lin Tao said that there will be \u201cno change in status\u201d for the Xperia phones.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Japanese site S-Max did some digging and discovered the model names for the Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII in the GSMA IMEI database.<\/p>\n<p>These models go in sequence, e.g. the Xperia 1 VII and 10 VII were the PM-150X-BV and PM-151X-BV, respectively (X is a digit denoting regional variants).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"515\" alt=\"Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII model names registered with the GSMA\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1770661487_613_gsmarena_001.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nSony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII model names registered with the GSMA<\/p>\n<p>So, the PM-152X-BV and PM-153X-BV should be the Mark VIII successors. The flagship model has these additional model names: XQ-GE44, XQ-GE54 and XQ-GE74. The 10-series mid-ranger has these: XQ-GH44, XQ-GH54 and XQ-GH74.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, model names are as cryptic as ever, but the crucial thing is that they exist and will be replacing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/sony_xperia_1_vii_5g-13843.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Xperia 1 VII<\/a> (which launched in June last year) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/sony_xperia_10_vii_5g-14137.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Xperia 10 VII<\/a> (which arrived in September).
