Gardai<\/a> were alerted to a man who had apparently been thrown out of a car and left outside the station, following a suspected \u2018straightener\u2019 which occurred in the Teffia Park estate. The man had slash injuries to his hands – and is suspected to have earlier been scrapping the other injured man.<\/p>\n They were also alerted to a second scene in the town in which the other man was found with severe slash injuries to his face.<\/p>\n Gardai fear that a violent feud, which has escalated in recent weeks, led to a meet-up in the town last night and saw both men attack one another with knives.<\/p>\n The incident comes after a spate of incidents in recent weeks – including shots being fired and vehicles being set on fire.<\/p>\n Gardai believe two gangs – one of which is based in Longford Town and the other which has connections in Dublin<\/a>, are warring over drugs<\/a>.<\/p>\n The argument came to a head when men from opposing sides met and attacked one another in Longford last night.<\/p>\n The incident saw the Garda Armed Response Unit deployed to the area, while both injured men were taken to hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n The man who was slashed in the face is said to have horrific injuries – but they are not life-threatening in nature. Click here to sign up<\/a> and get it delivered to your inbox every week<\/p>\n In a statement to the Irish Mirror<\/a>, Gardai said they are investigating “following an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the Longford Town area on Monday 9th February, 2026 at approximately 9pm.<\/p>\n “Two males (20s and 30s) received serious injuries and were taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n “Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
