Following the release of Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1<\/a> earlier today, Google has revealed<\/a> that the Android 17 Beta is starting soon.<\/p>\n

Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 is the final release in that cycle, and Google is turning its attention to the \u201cnext Beta program cycle that covers our Android 17 Platform Release (26Q2).\u201d<\/p>\n

Officially, \u201cAndroid 17 Beta 1 will kick [off] soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those on 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 who remain in the Android Beta Program will \u201cautomatically receive Android 17 Beta 1.\u201d You will not be able to opt-out without a data wipe until the \u201cend of the Android 17 Beta cycle in June 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

A June release for Android 17 is not surprising.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t want to test Android 17 Beta 1, you need to opt out of the Android Beta Program<\/a> and \u201cignore\/don\u2019t apply the downgrade OTA update.\u201d You have to \u201cwait for the final public stable release of Android 16 QPR3(CP1A) coming soon,\u201d which translates to March.<\/p>\n

The OTA message will have \u2018Downgrade\u2019 in the description. Opting out will not cause a data wipe as long as you don\u2019t apply the downgrade OTA update.<\/p>\n
