Garda\u00ed have arrested a man aged in his 20s on suspicion of the murder of Daniel Aruebose.<\/p>\n

Sources have confirmed to The Irish Mirror that the man was arrested at Dublin Airport this afternoon after he was deported from Brazil.<\/p>\n

The man had been living in the south American country for several years \u2013 but was arrested there last December. He has been in custody in Brazil since.<\/p>\n

Brazilian Federal Police officials said they arrested the man for deportation \u2013 and alleged he was in Brazil under what they termed an irregular immigration situation.<\/p>\n

They also said that the arrest was part of an international operation \u2013 and they had been in contact with gardai.<\/p>\n

The man was out of reach of gardai without the intervention of the Brazilian cops on the immigration arrest.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because Ireland has no extradition agreement with Brazil \u2013 and also because we can only extradite here from another country for the purpose of charge.<\/p>\n

Tragic Daniel went missing at around the age of three and officers have believed that he was secretly buried on land off the Portrane Road in Donabate, Co Dublin in 2021. Young Daniel’s remains were discovered in a wasteland in Donabate, north Dublin in September.<\/p>\n

His disappearance was only discovered when officials from the Department of Social Protection made checks on a social welfare payment related to him and were unable to determine his location earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed have said the man is currently detained at a Garda station in Dublin, and that investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: \u201cAs part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Daniel Aruebose, Garda\u00ed have this afternoon arrested a male aged in his 20s on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is currently detained under provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region. Investigations are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n
