But for many Americans, it was old hat. They\u2019d already been able to access semaglutide as a pill \u2014 and mints, and gummies, and even something that looks like a dissolvable breath strip \u2014 from compounding pharmacies and telehealth companies for more than a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And yet, when Hims &amp; Hers \u2014 one of the largest telehealth platforms offering semaglutide \u2014 announced it would offer its own compounded version of the pill last week, the hammer came down swiftly.<\/p>\n<p>By Friday, the Food and Drug Administration said it would take \u201cdecisive steps\u201d to restrict compounded GLP-1s from being mass marketed as similar to FDA-approved drugs, naming Hims specifically. The Department of Health and Human Services asked the Department of Justice to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/pharmalot\/2026\/02\/06\/fda-take-action-against-hims-telehealth-wegovy-compounding\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">investigate the company<\/a> for potential violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). Over the weekend, Hims backed down, saying it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2026\/02\/07\/hims-wont-sell-compounded-obesity-pill-novo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stop selling<\/a> the pill, only to have Novo Nordisk file a patent infringement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/pharmalot\/2026\/02\/09\/novo-sues-hims-infringing-wegovy-patent-obesity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lawsuit<\/a> on Monday.
