Tech<\/a> is a huge deal in China in general, but Chinese customers tend to buy \u2018local\u2019 whenever they can, which is why iPhone has been struggling in recent times.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s changing.<\/p>\n

The reason why Chinese buyers used to shun iPhones<\/p>\n

For lots of reasons \u2013 including political, let\u2019s be honest \u2013 Chinese buyers tend to buy Chinese products whenever they can.<\/p>\n

And when it comes to tech, they\u2019re spoiled from choice.<\/p>\n

Xiaomi, OnePlus<\/a>, and even Huawei (they\u2019re also making cars now<\/a>) \u2013 all these brands are Chinese, they make great products, and so people buy them.<\/p>\n

We also should remember that most apps that we use every day in Europe and the US are either banned or only available in limited capacity in China.<\/p>\n

Even Google Maps<\/a> is blocked.<\/p>\n

Chinese buyers rely on native apps<\/a> for everything, and some of those aren\u2019t even available in the App Store.<\/p>\n

These are the reasons why Chinese people weren\u2019t really buying iPhones like the rest of the world was.<\/p>\n

Until now, that is.<\/p>\n

This is why iPhone 17 Pro is now \u2018flavor of the month\u2019 in China<\/p>\n

Apple iPhone 17 Pro (and Pro Max) is now the hottest thing on the market in China because\u2026 it\u2019s orange.<\/p>\n

Apparently, Chinese buyers are buying the 17 Pro in Cosmic Orange for two reasons.<\/p>\n

First, because it apparently reminds them of Herm\u00e8s orange, and China is now going through a phase where luxury products are in demand.<\/p>\n

And second, because in Mandarin, the word \u2018orange\u2019 sounds similar to \u2018success\u2019.<\/p>\n

So there we have it, today\u2019s lesson.<\/p>\n
