{"id":293986,"date":"2026-02-12T10:05:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T10:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/293986\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T10:05:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T10:05:09","slug":"cycling-ireland-supports-andshecycles-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/293986\/","title":{"rendered":"Cycling Ireland Supports #AndSheCycles Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Cycling Ireland Supports #AndSheCycles Campaign\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cycling Ireland is pleased to be supporting An Taisce\u2019s #AndSheCycles Campaign and Ambassador Programme.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is driven by the data that in Ireland just 1in every 250 teenage girls cycle to school every day, compared with 1 in 25 teenage boys.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Run by An Taisce Green-Schools, the #AndSheCycles Ambassador Programme was established in response to this disparity, to empower teenage girls to take action in their schools and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The ambassador programme works with girls in secondary school and those who identify as female, equipping them with the skills, confidence and knowledge to design and deliver their own cycling campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassadors are supported to become role models and leaders, driving positive change within their schools and local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The programme aims to increase opportunities for girls to cycle, both recreationally and as a means of everyday transport, such as cycling to school.<\/p>\n<p>It fosters a supportive and inclusive community, where teenage girls feel heard, empowered and confident in campaigning for safer, more accessible cycling environments.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is inclusive and accessible, welcoming girls of all abilities.<\/p>\n<p>This March, Cycling Ireland and #AndSheCycles will collaborate to host a number of events, giving teenage girls an opportunity to try different disciplines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cycling Ireland is proud to be supporting such an inclusive and proactive campaign. Speaking about it, Paul Norton Participation Manager with Cycling Ireland said:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to be supporting the #AndSheCycles initiative by An Taisce Green School, which has gone from strength to strength over the last number of years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s great to see the number of #AndSheCycles ambassadors growing year on year, with over 120 around the country this year, who help to normalise cycling among their peers, break down barriers and encourage other young girls and women to cycle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be supporting the #AndSheCycles initiative in March with a number of activities at venues such as Lucan BMX track, Ballyhoura mountain bike trails, Sundrive Velodrome, Lough Boora and Castlecomber Discovery Parks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allison Phillips, Programme Manager with Green-Schools Travel said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re delighted to collaborate with Cycling Ireland this March to support our #AndSheCycles Ambassadors through cycling events taking place across the country.
