Two of the inducted albums \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/2pac\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/2pac\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2Pac<\/a>\u2019s All Eyez on Me and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/janet-jackson\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/janet-jackson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Janet Jackson<\/a>\u2019s Janet Jackson\u2019s Rhythm Nation 1814 \u2013 topped the Billboard 200. Others didn\u2019t chart at all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTwo of the inducted recordings were awarded Grammys when they were current. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/radiohead\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/radiohead\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Radiohead<\/a>\u2019s OK Computer won best alternative music performance; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/lucinda-williams\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/lucinda-williams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lucinda Williams<\/a>\u2019 Car Wheels on a Gravel Road won best contemporary folk music album. Janet Jackson\u2019s Rhythm Nation 1814 didn\u2019t win as an album, but the accompanying music video won best music video \u2013 longform. Others weren\u2019t even nominated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe oldest recording to be honored this year is Bertha \u201cChippie\u201d Hill\u2019s \u201cTrouble in Mind\u201d from 1926. Four of the inducted recordings were released in the 1990s: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/selena\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/selena\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Selena<\/a>\u2019s Amor Prohibido, 2Pac\u2019s All Eyez on Me, Radiohead\u2019s OK Computer and Williams\u2019 Car Wheels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThree of the artists being honored this year died before reaching 30. Selena and 2Pac were both shot to death, at 23 and 25, respectively. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/nick-drake\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/nick-drake\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Drake <\/a>died at age of 26 due to an overdose of antidepressants. At the other extreme, children\u2019s music great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ella-jenkins\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ella-jenkins\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ella Jenkins<\/a> made it to 100.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Grammy Hall of Fame was established by the Recording Academy\u2019s national trustees in 1973. The original idea was to honor recordings that were released before the Grammys were first presented in 1959. It is now open to any recording that is at least 25 years old. (This year, only three of the 14 inducted recordings were released prior to the inception of the Grammy Awards.)\u00a0The inducted recordings are selected annually by a special member committee, with final ratification by the Recording Academy\u2019s national board of trustees. Counting the 14 new titles, the Grammy Hall of Fame totals 1,179 inducted recordings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis year\u2019s additions include nine albums and five songs that exhibit \u201cqualitative or historical significance.\u201d The inducted recordings will be honored at the Grammy Museum and Recording Academy\u2019s Grammy Hall of Fame Gala on May 8 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.
