As lenacapavir, which Sands calls \u201cthe biggest thing to happen in <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7295343\/fda-hiv-shot-lenacapavir-yeztugo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HIV prevention<\/a> for a very long time,\u201d became available, cuts to U.S. foreign aid and geopolitical struggles meant that more people than ever were depending on the Global Fund. Thanks to Sands\u2019 and the Global Fund\u2019s efforts, the drug was rolled out at the same time in both rich countries and poor ones; the first doses arrived in Zambia and Eswatini in November.
