{"id":294646,"date":"2026-02-12T18:35:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T18:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/294646\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T18:35:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T18:35:09","slug":"families-demand-immediate-release-of-paediatric-orthopaedic-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/294646\/","title":{"rendered":"Families demand immediate release of paediatric orthopaedic report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Claire Cahill of the Scoliosis Advocacy Network has called on the Minister for Health to immediately publish the report into paediatric orthopaedic services, which was carried out by retired orthopaedic consultant Prof Salvaduri Nayagam.<\/p>\n<p>The review was commissioned in 2023 after concerns about high rates of post-operative complications, infections in orthopaedic surgeries, and the use of unapproved springs in surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the review, which examined the work of consultant Connor Green, has been completed, but has not yet been published.<\/p>\n<p>It needed to be published immediately so it could quickly be established what went wrong, when it went wrong, and to whom, Ms Cahill told RT\u00c9 Radio\u2019s Morning Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Minister for Health needs to be on top of her brief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statutory inquiry is at a standstill, she said.
