On 5 February, The Limerick Museum, officially opened\u00a0Enlacement, an Art Exhibition by Jelena Stamenkovi\u0107, curated by Maurice Quillinan.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Jelena Stamenkovi\u0107 is a visual artist and educator based in Saint-\u00c9tienne, France, as well as in her native Belgrade, Serbia. She is a member of both La Maison des Artistes\u2014the French national association for visual artists\u2014and ULUS, the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia<\/p>\n
\u00a0As an architect and urban planner, Jelena has always been drawing. She began painting in 2017, since when she has had several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the RHA Annual Exhibition in 2025. In 2019, she undertook her first artistic stay in Ireland, which deeply moved her, confirming her path in abstract art and marking the beginning of an inspiring connection with Ireland.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Councillor Maria Donoghue\u00a0deputising for Mayor of Limerick John Moran said:<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cEnlacement was built around a deeply personal\u00a0source of inspiration: the Museum\u2019s magnificent collection of Limerick lace, creating an immediate connection to Jelena\u2019s grandmother,\u00a0her craft and her ancestors. By drawing these family memories and traditions, Jelena seeks to reveal what persists in the shadow, what is passed down without words, and to make the invisible visible.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0Dr. Pat Daly, Director General, Limerick City and County Council\u00a0praised the new exhibition:<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cI want to congratulate Jelena on creating this beautiful exhibition Enlacement and Maurice Quillinan for his excellent work in curating it.\u00a0We are proud to see the Limerick Museum host such a compelling exhibition and celebrating Jelena\u2019s work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI am grateful to all the messengers whose words have guided me in creating this exhibition: the deep waters, the dark forests, and every one of my ancestors. Each has become a source, an invisible thread weaving through my artworks and connecting me to the complexity and the beauty of the unconscious.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0Dr. Matthew Potter,\u00a0Curator of Limerick Museum\u00a0welcomes the latest addition to the Limerick Museum:<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cI am delighted that Enlacement is a response to the Museum\u2019s magnificent collection of Limerick lace. In just three years\u2019 time, in 2029, we will be celebrating and commemorating the 200th\u00a0anniversary of Limerick Lace.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0Enlacement\u00a0will be on display in\u00a0Limerick Museum until 28 February 2026.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The Museum is open to the public Monday to Friday 10.00am to 5.00pm; Saturday 10.00am-1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm.
