This morning, Universal unveiled a limited edition 4LP box set rounding up fourteen extended dance versions of Bee Gees classics.\u00a0 You Should Be Dancing: The 12\u2033 Collection is available for pre-order now exclusively through the Bee Gees\u2019 and Universal Music\u2019s online storefront and is limited to 1,000 units only.\u00a0 It will ship on or around February 27.\u00a0 Alas, much like the last time the group\u2019s extended mixes were reissued (2015\u2019s Extended EP<\/a>, on Rhino), this collection will be unavailable on compact disc.<\/p>\n

You Should Be Dancing features the original Disco Mixes of Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb\u2019s Saturday Night Fever classics \u201cStayin\u2019 Alive,\u201d \u201cNight Fever,\u201d and \u201cMore Than a Woman,\u201d along with vintage seventies mixes of the pre-Fever dancefloor perennials \u201cYou Should Be Dancing,\u201d \u201cBoogie Child,\u201d and \u201cYou Stepped Into My Life.\u201d\u00a0 These tracks are joined by five previously unreleased extended mixes of 1975\u2019s \u201cNights on Broadway\u201d and \u201cJive Talkin\u2019,\u201d 1979\u2019s \u201cTragedy\u201d and \u201cLove You Inside Out,\u201d and \u201cIf I Can\u2019t Have You.\u201d\u00a0 (While Yvonne Elliman\u2019s chart-topping take of \u201cMore Than a Woman\u201d produced by Freddie Perren was included on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, the Bee Gees\u2019 own recording was placed on the flipside of \u201cStayin\u2019 Alive.\u201d\u00a0 Both \u201cJive Talkin’\u201d and \u201cYou Should Be Dancing\u201d were featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack despite pre-dating the film.)<\/p>\n

SG Lewis\u2019 2021 remix of another Fever standard, \u201cMore Than a Woman,\u201d was a viral hit; it makes its physical debut on this collection.\u00a0 (Both the Bee Gees\u2019 and Tavares\u2019 renditions of the song were included on the Fever soundtrack, with Tavares\u2019 recording going to the top ten in the U.K. and the top 40 of the U.S. Pop and Soul charts).\u00a0 Lewis\u2019 remix hit No. 6 on the Dance chart in 2021.\u00a0 You Should Be Dancing concludes with two 1993 mixes \u2013 the original album version and Ben Liebrand\u2019s remix \u2013 of \u201cDecadance,\u201d a reimagined version of the box set\u2019s title song.<\/p>\n
