Drugs unit garda\u00ed uncovered \u20ac70,000 worth of cannabis and \u20ac49,000 worth of cocaine \u2014 together with cash totalling just over \u20ac29,000 \u2014 from two different locations in Cork city.<\/p>\n
At Cork District Court, a man facing multiple charges arising out of the investigation has been remanded in custody until February 19.<\/p>\n
Jake O\u2019Sullivan, aged 25, with an address at a room in Achill House, Western Rd, Cork, and, formerly of Fairfield Rd, Farranree, Cork, was brought before Cork District Court.<\/p>\n
Det Garda Ryan Dillon of the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit told how garda\u00ed carried out a search at a property on Fairfield Rd, Farranree on February 10 and discovered \u20ac70,000 worth of cannabis, \u20ac49,000 worth of cocaine, and \u20ac16,515 in cash.<\/p>\n
The detective said they then conducted a follow up search at Achill House, Western Rd, Cork.<\/p>\n
He said they found the second sum of cash \u2014 \u20ac12,600 \u2014 together with a weighing scales at a room at Achill House on Western Rd where the accused had been staying.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Sullivan was charged with possessing cannabis, possessing cocaine, possessing cannabis for sale or supply and possessing cocaine for sale or supply at the Fairfield Rd address.<\/p>\n
He was also charged with possessing cannabis in relation to the cannabis found at Achill House and with money laundering in relation to the \u20ac12,600 found in the room during the same search.<\/p>\n
He said garda\u00ed were objecting to bail due to the seriousness of the charges as well as the strength of the evidence against O\u2019Sullivan including evidence on his phone of drug dealing.<\/p>\n
He said that when garda\u00ed arrested and questioned O\u2019Sullivan, he admitted drug addiction and having a substantial drugs debt.<\/p>\n
Cross-examined by defence solicitor Shane Collins Daly, the detective agreed Mr O\u2019Sullivan had been co-operative, but he said there were no bail conditions that would satisfy garda\u00ed to grant him bail.<\/p>\n
