ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) \u2014 A local author is releasing a new book with the stories of people who survived Hurricane Helene.<\/p>\n

The author Julianne Rhodes grew up in Canton and still lives there part-time.<\/p>\n

Last year, Rhodes released a book called ‘Mountain Tsunamis’ that told the stories of people who were impacted by Tropical Storm Fred in 2021.<\/p>\n

When Helene hit western North Carolina a month after Rhodes released ‘Mountain Tsunamis’, readers requested a follow-up book.<\/p>\n

“Hurricane Helene took some beautiful, beautiful people from us, and this book is in memory of all the people who passed away during Helene,” Rhodes said.<\/p>\n

Rhodes says the book is not only about loss, but it also provides stories about rescues, volunteers, and survivors.<\/p>\n
