Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series<\/a> is fast approaching, with the Unpacked date firmly secured for the end of February, just a few weeks from now. However, as leaks and rumors continue to increase in frequency, we are learning more about what the Galaxy S26 may or may not have, including Qi2.<\/p>\n

While the Galaxy S26 is expected to support Qi2 wireless charging<\/a>, rumors indicate the phones won’t include built-in magnets. This means that, unlike the Pixel 10 series<\/a>, which can use MagSafe chargers with ease, Galaxy S26 devices will require cases to take advantage of Qi2’s magnetic charging.<\/p>\n

We recently asked if this would be a dealbreaker. Out of more than 1,100 responses, over 50% of responses say that the lack of magnetic charging is a dealbreaker, while 35% say it doesn’t matter, and 13% say that it depends.<\/p>\n

One reader, Jack Booth, sees the rumored lack of built-in magnetic charging as an obvious example of Samsung’s lack of innovation:<\/p>\n

“I love Samsung and have an s24U but this is a bit cheeky,” Booth comments on Facebook. “There’s so little innovation year on year with them they could have at least put this in.”<\/p>\n

Another reader, Alfredo Rodriguez, agrees, noting how it requires users to spend more money on cases:<\/p>\n

“Yes. I’m tired of having to buy more expensive cases because they have the magnets built in. The phone having magnets already built in means I could buy a lot more reasonably priced cases. I like the new camera island and was liking that the magnets were in but this is definitely not a worthy upgrade from my S25 Ultra.”<\/p>\n

For Luisillo el Tiznadillo on X, the lack of built-in magnets wouldn’t be a dealbreaker, but signals a larger trend with Samsung devices<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not a deal breaker, but would’ve been nice \ud83e\udd37\ud83c\udffb\u200d\u2642\ufe0f Apparently, that “would’ve been nice” is becoming very common with Samsung. Bigger battery? Same. Sad.February 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n

E. Oliver on X also notes that they always use a case with their phone, so requiring one for magnetic charging wouldn’t change anything.<\/p>\n

Since my phone is always in a case it would not be a deal breaker. Especially since I don’t wireless charge any device because it diminishes the battery.Alternatively there are aftermarket magnets if you really need to not have a case on it and want to charge it wirelessly.February 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n
