\n The unknown DNA investigators obtained in the case of Nancy Guthrie\u2019s abduction is going to be helpful when investigators have a suspect, CNN Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller said.\n <\/p>\n
\n Officials have not been able to determine who the DNA belongs to, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.\n <\/p>\n
\n This means it didn\u2019t match the \u201cknown contributors,\u201d Miller said, meaning the people who have been around or inside Guthrie\u2019s house for other reasons.\n <\/p>\n
\n It\u2019s also \u201cnot somebody who\u2019s been convicted of a felony or arrested on a serious charge where that DNA would be in the FBI system,\u201d Miller said. Investigators would have run it through that database, he said.\n <\/p>\n
\n In an interview with CNN this afternoon, Nanos said the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department wanted to send a glove found by a search team to their lab rather than to the FBI\u2019s. The sheriff\u2019s department\u2019s lab already has DNA from Guthrie, her family, her landscaper and housekeeper, he said.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cTrust me, if we knew who it was, we\u2019d be on it,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cBut we do have some DNA, and we\u2019ll continue to work \u2026 with the lab on that DNA analysis.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n Moving forward in the investigation, the DNA will be critical in both ruling people out and, when there is a suspect, placing them at Guthrie\u2019s house, according to Miller.\n <\/p>\n
