A traveller put Ryanair’s<\/a> sole domestic Irish route to the test. Rather unexpectedly for an Irish carrier based in Dublin<\/a>, the budget airline runs just one service within the country – linking Dublin with Kerry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

YouTuber<\/a> Worldwide Dom, whose real name is Dominic Callander, embarked on the 35-minute journey from the capital, and one aspect in particular left him surprised.<\/p>\n

Upon boarding the Ryanair service at Dublin Airport’s<\/a> Terminal One, he immediately remarked on how sparsely populated the aircraft was. This follows Ryanair’s recent appeal to passengers to avoid bringing a certain type of alcohol aboard.<\/p>\n

He commented: “It was clear from the numbers that this was going to be anything but a packed flight. This flight doesn’t look like it’s even half full. Not sure how it’s possible. Maybe it’s like a subsidiary thing from the government.<\/p>\n

“I’ve got the whole row to myself. We’ll soon be on our way to Kerry,” reports Dublin Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During his brief journey, the YouTube<\/a> creator was pleasantly surprised that cabin crew offered a trolley service despite the short duration – whilst he praised the standard of coffee served by Ryanair.<\/p>\n

Ryanair formerly operated a Dublin to Cork service, but discontinued it in 2011 following upgrades to the M8 motorway. This substantially cut journey times by road, rendering air travel between the cities less appealing.<\/p>\n

Dom had merely six hours in Kerry before heading back to Dublin en route to Edinburgh, so he hired a vehicle and toured the locality. Following suggestions from his followers, he made his way to nearby Dingle for lunch, where he showcased the breathtaking scenery of the region to his audience, featuring the undulating countryside and charming coastal views.<\/p>\n

Soon enough, it was time to return to Kerry Airport for his journey back to Dublin. The Kerry facility is so compact that it can only handle three planes simultaneously.<\/p>\n

Dom’s Ryanair aircraft was remarkably empty – to such an extent that he needed to relocate towards the front of the plane to an aisle seat to assist with weight distribution.<\/p>\n

There was one final task before departing Ireland<\/a> – locating a pint of Guinness: “The plane’s not here yet so might have time for a cheeky wee Guinness before I leave Ireland. Can’t come to Ireland without having a Guinness.<\/p>\n

“They didn’t have Guinness but they had Murphy’s, which I actually prefer.”<\/p>\n

Wrapping up the video, he remarked: “All I can say is this is a great day out from Dublin. But I am a bit confused about why there are not more domestic services within Ireland.<\/p>\n

“Especially when you consider the time taken by rail and road. I should say this flight cost me \u00a336 return, which isn’t bad value for money if you ask me.
