A rain and snow warning has been issued for eight counties as temperatures plummeted across Ireland overnight.<\/p>\n
A Status Yellow rain\/snow warning will come into place for Cavan, Donegal, Longford and all five counties in Connacht at 12pm and last until 12am.<\/p>\n
Met \u00c9ireann warned that showers could turn to sleet or snow and create difficulties when travelling as well as poor visibility.<\/p>\n
A nationwide low-temperature warning expired at 10am.<\/p>\n
Water levels in rivers and canals are being monitored in Dublin after weeks of heavy rain led to flooding in homes and roads in parts of the capital.<\/p>\n
Dublin City Council said last night that it was actively monitoring elevated surface water levels across the city, particularly in the River Liffey around the Chapelizod area.<\/p>\n
The council also said it was working closely with Waterways Ireland in relation to the Grand Canal, which has heightened water levels.<\/p>\n
The council also said priority routes would be gritted, but warned the public that hazardous driving conditions and travel disruption may occur.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, several areas of north Dublin experienced significant levels of flooding after heavy rain.<\/p>\n
